Balázs (8 years old, Mátészalka)

We were very excited and looking forward to visiting Legoland, since none of us had been there before. Balázs fought his illness like a hero and so at last his dream came true. Balázs’s mother Anikó accompanied him of course.

We set off on July the 21st at 8 o’clock from the parking of IKEA on Őrs vezér square, and planned to arrive to Günzburg at 4 o’clock that day, where the hotel Arcadia awaited us.

When – a few hours and a good 550 kms later - we crossed the Austrian-German border I could feel the tension growing in the car since Günzburg by then was only two hours away. We arrived at the hotel and after unpacking we took a short tour around the city discovering all the sites. We went to bed soon, because the following morning we planned to arrive to Legoland for opening.

When we got out of the car and Balázs saw the huge LEGOLAND Deutschland sign he was very happy. His dream finally became true!

Entering Legoland we were speechless: where to go first? And what to do? Anywhere we looked there were new and new attractions.
It was hard to decide who was more excited: Balázs or the grown-ups?
Then we took the roller coaster. What looks steep from under looks even steeper from the top. Although it was a bit stomach-turning it was a lot of fun, but even funnier were the pictures, that the secret built-in camera made.

After that we went through many games, exhibitions and we even built LEGOs, and yes, it is true what the sign says: „Ein Tag ist nicht genug” meaning, one day is not enough.
By the end of the first day every single drop of our energy ran out, so falling asleep wasn’t a problem.

We started the next day with renewed energy, and couldn’t wait for another adventure. This day we went through all the games again and also tried the pirate ship, and all the different "machines".

I was very happy to see how much Balázs enjoyed the park, and to see another child’s wish come true.

We are also very grateful for Balázs, that we could live through this „adventure” with him, we were all very touched by the 4 days we spent together.

Get well the soonest, Balázs!

Réka (15 years old, Szigetszentmárton)

Réka’s wish fulfillment was the 1527th and probably one of the most exciting: she dreamed to „meet and greet” her most favorite actor Mr. JOHNNY DEPP.

When we received her request, we were "just a little bit” frightened, whether we can do it at all (and how?!?). To cut it short it took us more than a year and lots of work of many kind persons to organise everything.

At last - thanks to her doctors and our sponsors - we could fly with Réka and her mum to London.
The last medical checks of Réka were not too promising, so her doctors were a bit uncertain, but they gave the green light in the end with one condition: the following day of her flight home she should have new and serious tests at the hospital.

We arrived in rainy weather but so we landed under a rainbow: a beautiful greeting from England to Réka, ending her first ever flight splendidly.

Thanks to the management of Art’Otel Budapest, the Hungarian member of the Park Plaza Chain we could stay at one of the most beautiful hotels, Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in the heart of the city. Somehow the staff learnt who Réka was and they were even kinder to her.

/ 14

We first toured the city of course for hours for Réka's pleasure.
Then the following day Réka met Mr. Depp at the Pinewood Studios. Mr. Depp was very kind and talked to Réka several times during his busy day.

In order to publish a more detailed report and photos from the meeting we have asked and are waiting for the permisson of Mr. Depp and his management.

In the name of Réka we would like to thank Mr. Johhny Depp, for having realised this very special, thought impossible wish of a 16 years old Hungarian girl. We are greatful to Mssrs. Andy G. Vajna and Péter Rudolf for their kind assistance, for all the British, American and Hungarian colleagues, especially for Sarah, Victoria, Nicky, Nathan, Mr. Zanuck and Ágnes for organising so many things for Réka.
Many thanks for the sponsorship of Art’Otel Budapest and Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, where the management and staff did everything to make our stay most pleasant.
Last but not least many thanks for MALÉV and their frequent flyer Duna Club members who donated their bonus points for Csodalámpa, making this „kind of magic” happen.

Noémi (13 years old, Rezi)

There were a lot of ill kids this year who wanted the visit the Formula 1 car racing but Noémi was the only whose condition allowed her to go there. Her wish was from the Wonder Lamp to go there and meet a famous pilot. As always we asked the Hungaroring Sport Zrt. to help us. We have got super good seats from them in a short time.

The visiting of the box street was the previous day so Noémi and her family spent two days in Budapest in the Art'Otel Hotel where they got a reduced room. After arriving at the hotel they had to go to the Hungaroring within a short time.

Thank to the Red Bull Team Noémi had the opportunity to go to the box street and to meet Mr Mark Webber, Mr Schumacher and Mr Alonso. She was in floodlight a lot of photos have been taken about her and the pilots. This could be seen on TV, as well.

The really car racing was on the following day, which Noémi enjoyed very much although it was very noisy. She was very proud to meet these famous people personally.

We thank for the tickets to Mr Gyulay Zsolt who is the chairman of Hungaroring Zrt.

Thanks for the excellent accommodation to Ms Manuela Pellegrini who is the director of Art'Otel Budapest HR.

Thanks to Ms Nagy Bernadett and her colleagues, in order to organise the visiting of the box street and the meeting of the pilots.

Zoltan (12 years old, Debrecen)

Until the last days of July the „two” Zoltans didn’t know each other, all they knew was that they both adored Lego toys. Naturally both boy wished for a trip to Legoland.

We set off in unusually cold weather to Legoland near Günzburg. Luckily in Germany nice weather greeted us, we could say that this was the way the „powers above” contributed to fulfilling the dreams of the two boys.

Between the many-many games it was very hard to decide what to do. Either to go fishing, try darts, go sliding, go to the circus or which roller coaster to try first. So we decided to try everything after each other.

After going through the miniature world – including the Castle of Neuschwannsteint, that contains over 1,2 million Lego pieces - we took a trip on the „Venice gondola” the „Viennese giant wheel”, teh Allianz Arena and also watched a show in the park’s newest attraction, the Chinese circus. In the circus many artists dazzled us and we were astonished by the magical show.

After the show and dinner, the children carried on playing and we could leave the park only late evening. At the end of the day we tried the water games too, from where nobody escaped without getting wet...

To make the trip even more memorable the two Zolis got new Lego presents as well: Harry Potter and Star Wars heroes will always remind them of this wonderful day.

Thank you for the help and support of the FŐTAXI management, especially for Sándor Tihanyi who personally came with us on this long trip, of The Merlin Entertainment Group Merlin's Magic Wand and naturally for all the other sponsors who helped us fulfill another wish.

Balázs (9 years old, Vác)

Balázs’s favorite game is PlayMobil. Then, he found out that there is a massive theme park full of PlayMobil… His wish was explicit: „I would like to go to the Playmobil park next to Nuremberg”.

To be honest we didn’t even know that there was a Playmobil park in Germany.
We were looking forward to the trip, only Balázs was more excited. We traveled for almost a day, during which Balázs now and then asked: „are we there yet?”…
Balázs was very curious, what are the toys going to be like? Are they going to smile? How tall will they be?
Then the long awaited day arrived.

The games and toys exceeded our expectations. Time passed by quickly, one minute we were fighting the dinosaurs, then we had to capture a medieval castle, after we had to save our boat from the attack of pirates, witch was not easy because we had to walk on a suspension bridge and paddle in a raft, when finally we thought we would be able to have a rest, it was still not over, beacuse, then we had to search for gold, and Balázs even tried the mini golf court.

/ 8

Balázs gave a long account of his experience int he Playmobil park for his family, and for „proof” he even got a few new games from us as well.
We believe that Balázs will remember this happy and joyful day forever.

Thank you for the help and support of the management of FŐTAXI , especially for Sándor Tihanyi who personally came with us on this long trip and naturally for all the other sponsors who helped us fulfill this special wish.

Tilla (5 years old, Debrecen)

Tilla is a very communicative and open-hearted five and a half year old girl who asked for a Playmobil Pyramid.
"You can find so many treasures in this pyramid; this is why I like it. I wanted to visit a place full of treasures before I fell ill" she said.

Tilla is still in hospital, so Mr Attila T. and I visited her there, because he really wanted to make Tilla happy until the treatment is over.

As soon as Tilla saw the huge box, she got very excited and immediately wanted to have a look at the pyramid with the treasures she was dreaming about. However the pyramid will not be built up until she gets home in a few days, she has immediately got hold of the treasures.

We wish you lots of delightful moments with your pyramid, Tilla dear!

A big thank you to Mr Attila T. for fulfilling Noémi’s wish!

Noémi (9, from Újszász)

Noémi, a little girl of 9 asked the Jinn of the Wonderlamp Foundation for a digital camera.

One of our benefactors noticed her wish on the website and acted immediately: he bought a lovely pink camera with a matching pink pouch for Noémi.

We handed it over to her today; she smiled and clutched it to her chest and told us that the first thing she would do now was to go home and take a photo of her puppy.

Noémi would like to thank Mr Péter Marinov for his generous donation. She was sorry they didn’t get a chance meet.

A big thank you to Mr Marinov for fulfilling Noémi’s wish!

Patrik (6 years old, Tiszafüred)

Photos: Horváth Péter Gyula/Magyar Hírlap

The situation in that we could take part together with Patrik when his big dream fulfilled was like a movie scene: Patrik had an opportunity to sit in a real tracked tank equipped with a gun-tube and he could also drive it – although not all by himself – at Tata Military Base.

Special arrangements had to be made prior to the fulfilment of this extraordinary wish. We had to send our request to the minister of defense to get to know whether they would organize the tank driving for Patrik. Weeks before the event several employees of the ministry, a number of lieutenants –colonels and soldiers of the Tata Infantry Brigade had been working to organize such a memorable day to the 6-year old boy that never should be forgotten.

Everything took place in order according to military timing. Probably it was one of the hottest days this summer when we left for the Military Base at Tata. On the way we got over the closed roads and traffic jam due to accidents. Then by coincidence we followed those two cars that were driving to the base at Tata. There we were welcomed by a real military line-up, hosts were saluting, and then after a short briefing the program was started.

We had a look at the tanks and soldiers explained everything in details, then they took Patrik in a tank. Since these vehicles were not moving, after a while we were taken to the real parade ground and there the long awaited moment came: Patrik could sit into a tank which was started and covered a distance.

We, the adults just wondered how Patrik felt safe and on the other hand it was also amazing how those sober-minded soldiers tried to care for Patrik and tried to meet all of his requests.

Coming back from the journey, Csaba Hende minister and Zsolt Sándor brigadier general gave Patrik a remote-controlled tank and a certificate confirming his courage on behalf of the soldiers. His tiny little figure was closed round by a complete Infantry Brigade and they helped him to move among the huge vehicles. Even the adults’ eyes were tearful when we saw the sober-minded solders taking care of Patrik, teaching him, seating him on their laps and carrying him round the barrack.

Patrik, we all wish that you should never forget this day and the number of good people there who all wanted you get well.

Thank you so much to dr. Csaba Hende minister of defense, his colleagues

and Zsolt Sándor lieutenant –general and the personnel of the 25th György Klapka Infantry Brigade at Tata

for their kind attention and helpfulness towards Patrik and his parents.

Rita (16 years old, Heréd)

Rita, along with thousands of girls her age, is a great fan of Csaba Vastag, winner of X-Factor 2010. The wish she asked Csodalámpa to fulfil was to meet the young performer.

As the singer is very busy these days, our aim was to find an event where he didn’t perform in front of a huge crowd, so that he could have a chance to meet Rita and have a chat with her.

On 6th May, the student press festival took place at Millenáris, organised by the DUE (National Organisation of Student and Young Journalists) . The DUE had done a lot before to help our charity so we contacted them and asked if we could attend this event. Rita arrived from Heréd early in the morning that day, accompanied by her foster mother. Together we set of to the Millenáris. We all got armbands at the door so we could have attended the whole event, but Rita was so excited that all she could think about was the meeting with Csaba.

Around 11 o’clock we finally got the signal and were allowed to go up to the VIP gallery, where Csaba Vastag was waiting for Rita. He gave her a warm and friendly welcome. He talked to her about his performances, his stage roles, and his hobby, while Rita was listening intently. We took lots of photos of the two of them so that all Rita’s friend at home could see that yes, Csaba Vastag was there, talking exclusively to Rita. He also signed a number of photos so that everyone at Rita’s home could have his autograph.

Thank you to Csaba Vastag for finding the time to meet Rita,

also thanks to his agents: Andor Posztobányi and László Maszler,

and to the leaders and team at DUE to help us fulfill Rita’s dream.

Maja (8 years old, Budapest)

Maja has had several surgeries and now she has to be home schooled for a while, since she is not allowed to go back to school just yet. Her wish from the Wonderlamp Foundation was to get a notebook so that she can keep in touch with her classmates via the Internet and get her schoolwork done.

Children’s Day was around the corner and a TV presenter invited us to her show where we handed over Maja’s present live on air. She was a little shy in the limelight but once she caught sight of her new netbook there was nothing else she could think about – she could hardly wait to hold it and to get online!

Maja, you are a very brave girl – we wish you all the best and we hope you will use your netbook to learn and play a lot!

Kornélia (17 years old, Sárvár)

The Csodalámpa Foundation fulfilled the 1500th wish in the spring of 2011.

We have changed this young girl into a fashonable girl with the help of a professional stylist. This was her wish and it was our 1500th wonder.

Kornélia - whose nickname is Nelly is - keen on the fashionable dresses but she is not sure of her taste yet.
She wanted to meet a stylist who could give her some usuful advice what how to wear. Mr. Robi Már accepted immadietely this task. We agreed with him to spend a whole afternoon with Nelly and they would speak only about fashion and dresses.

Nelly arrived from Sárvár with her parents in Budapest. It was very warm that day it could be about 35C... We sat at a table of a coffeehouse dowbtown with a glass of cold drink in our hands under a parasol speaking about fashion pleasantly and peacefully. Robi praised Nelly’s bonnet and her style. He promised to help Nelly how to pick together the different accesories. Nelly tried on different kinds of dresses through hours, for example an elegant dress to the school-leavers’ ball. She seemed to be very happy. I think we women get some "happiness hormones" when we buy something... It proved true with Nelly, too.

We thank Mr. Robert Már for his help, for he devoted all his energies and time to Nelly that afternoon. It was very kind of him to make glad Nelly.

We say thanks to H&M Shop at Vörösmarty square to give us an opportunity to take phothos there during wish granting and sorry for our disturbing there the usual business life.

Vivien Ibolya (12 years old, Budapest)

I talked to her mum the previous day and asked her to keep the secret: Monday Vivien's wish will come true. I knew this won't be easy to her...

Viven woke up a few minutes before our arrival, she blinked almost half-asleep on the two strangers who entered her ward with a big brown box.
The other "stranger" was Mr. Ben O'Brian, teacher of the American International School of Budapest, or AISB .

The present for Vivien, the brand new laptop computer has come from the AISB art students and teachers.

:Each year, the Art students organise an exhibition, where a few of the best works are sold for charity. This year all the students voted Csodalámpa as the beneficiary of the art auction.

While we were telling Vivien who we are, why are we here and Ben explained in perfect Hungarian about the AISB and art fair Vivien started to smile.
I suggested to open the box at last.

/ 3

In the middle of struggling with the package I have seen her smiling doctors peeping in through the door... Yes, they deserve to be part of these small wonders...

Seeing and touching the notebook Viven's smile became even brighter: it is so pretty and it is HER's!
She started to plan immediately how she should use it for watching films, browsing the net...

This day proved te be very exceptional not only for Vivien and her Mother. Ben and me, we were also really moved by their intense joy.

We would like to thank in the name of Vivien the students and professors of American International School of Budapest for this wonderful present .

We wish Vivien a fast recovery in their name too.

Hajnalka (14 years old, Úri)

Hajnalka wished to swim together with dolphins. By our knowledge the only place in Europe, where this can be done is in Nice. It took good deal of work and some time too to organise everything but with our friends and supporters we managed at last to realise Hajni's wish.

There is no direct flight to Nice, so we flew from Budapest to Paris where we had to change for an other plane to Nice.
We could stay in downtown Nice in the wonderful Hotel Le Meridien Nice - many thank for the Starwood Hotels!

Next day was the big day: we went to Marineland.
The park itself was amazing! We visited the polar bears, seals and whales, as well.

Hajnalka was keen on the dolphin show of course. The main attraction - the reason we came - began at 5 pm when Hajnalka could go to the pool in a special neopren cloth to the dolphins. She followed the caretakers' instructions. She made friends with the dolphins in a record time. She found soon a favourite dolphin whom she gave the name "Flipper". It even preferred swimming around Hajni instead of listening to it's trainers commands...

/ 7

Hajnalka enjoyed a short swim in the sea next morning.
We went for a walk downtown on our last afternoon and we admired the beautiful Nice.
We said goodbye to Nice late in the evening and flew back to Paris, where our accommadation was in the pleasant Sheraton Paris Hotel.

We thank to the Le Meridien Hotel Nice and of course to Sheraton Paris Hotel for their support and hospitality which was given to Hajnalka during the trip.

Many thanks to MALÉV Hungarian Airlines and the kind members of MALÉV Duna Club for their support.

Caressing dolphins in Nice

I am Hajnalka and I am 14 years old.
The volunteers of the Csodalámpa visited my school the so called Motion Correcting Elementary School.

They asked me if a fairy granted my wish what it would be. I like swimming and I like the animals, as well. I always wanted to see and caress a dolphin. I knew it was a great wish.but I was told I could ask for it, of course. It was said me it would take a lot of time to organize this wish and they would do their best. My dream came true on 10th Jun when I could travel with my mum to France for 4 days.

We stayed at two beautiful hotels in Paris at Sheraton Airport Hotel and in Nice at Le Meridien Hotel.I saw the sea from my beautiful room being in my bed or from the balkony being in the deck chair. Everybody was so kind to me!!! I shall never forget these fantastic days.
We stayed only for one night in Sheraton Hotel in Paris. I could see from my window to take off the planes. It was also great. What a pity I could stay there only for one day. I learnd, our accommadations were gratis. Many thanks to the hotels.I had many unforgettable experiences.!!!

And the dolphins!!! They were fantastic!!! Our day at Marineland was wonderful. We have seen a dolphin-seal show. The greatest attraction was the killer-whale show...

We became very tired at the end of the day. I have got so many new impressions that days that I have not been able even to think over and I have not ha time to speak about at home. I will do it later.

Many thanks to the Csodalámpa Foundation, the hotels and my attendents for the help and support. I will never forget it. I hope they will not forget me, too.

Petra (6 years old, Érd)

Petra who is called Kamilla in the reality is keen on Halász Judit and her songs. She was much exited all the week because she could go to Halász Judit’s concert and she could meet the singer personally.

We arrived a little bit earlier so we could watch the actress how she had a rehearsal on the stage. We could go a little bit later to her dressing room where Kamilla had an opportunity to chat to the actress. Kamilla had a present for her it was a drawing. The actress was very glad about it. They spoke about Kamilla’s hobby about free time about songs. She was asked about her favourite song, which was sung by Halázs Judit on the stage. We had taken some photos and left the dressing room.

We took place in the first row. The performance began within some minutes. The concert was great!!! The children sang the songs with the actress together they were given standing ovation to Halász Judit. They were very happy. Of course Kamilla was also very happy and I think it was a great experience in Kamilla’s life.

We thank to the leadership of Millenáris for everything,

Mr.Födő Sándor manager for his organisation of this meeting

and we are very grateful to Mrs Halász Judit who has fulfilled again the wish of an ill child.

Martin (8 years old, Palotabozsok)

Martin, his sibling and parents were invited to the event Chilren’s Day organized by the Pécs National Theatre together with the County Town Library. Due to his curiosity we tried to keep it a secret, but the child was very suspicious.

He arrived a little scared, but showing curious openness at the same time. Thanks to our Foundation two balloon clowns (representing Happy Balloons Ltd. ) also participated in the event and were the first to give Martin a present; in a circle of children, Martin got a balloon guitar.
The opening ceremony started following this and Martin was called on stage.

The moment has come, and as a representative of the Wonderlamp Foundation I had the opportunity to give Martin his much awaited gift: a remote control car, the kind adults would love to play with as well.
The little boy was very touched, but his face reflected joy and happiness.

In the meantime he was given two tickets for that evening’s performance Snow White by the director of the theatre.

With happy satisfaction we went to have lunch on the terrace of a nearby restaurant. We had a good time, Martin enjoyed talking, and he could hardly wait to get home and try his present, because the next day he had to return to the hospital for his last chemotherapy treatment. The next time we saw each other he was excited to tell us about his “wonder car”. Perhaps it is carefree play which lets one forget about the pain and suffering caused by the illness and treatment the best.

We wish to thank the Pécs National Theatre, not only for the fairy tale afternoons, but also for inviting the Wonderlamp Foundation to their Children’s Day event, strengthening our ties, where we got an opportunity to celebrate and fulfil Martin’s dream, as well as letting former “wonderlamp” kids participate in the afternoon show.

Krisztina (9 years old, Dunaharaszti)

Krisztina is a big fan of the hungarian soap opera ’Jóban- Rosszban’ so her wish was to take part on a shooting with her favourite actor Károly Gesztesi. To orginise this took quite long, but it was not the first time that the cast helped the foundation to make a wish come true. Krisztina was really excited. At the beginning we met the hair dressers,make-up artists and stylsts. When the actor arrived he greeted Kriszti as an old friend and invited the girl to his changing room where they could talk and he offered a sandwich to her. Krisztina gave him a painting in return.
The shooting started in the bar called ’Macsek’. Krisztina was peacefully watching until the director asked her to come in the bar,sit down and ask for the menu- just like an actress She played like she waited for this oppurtunity her entire life. After this she could also have some autographs from the actors and actresses.

We would like to thank Barbara Ujvári for organising this, Károly Gesztesi to help Krisztina’s wish come true and for the whole cast for being patient when we took several photos of Krisztina’s acting.

Viktória (9 years old, Söjtör)

Viki has always loved horses.
Her mother told us that Viki has been drawing horses since the age of two, so she obviously asked for a horse now. Viki was dreaming about a pony she could play with, look after, feed and water and might be her friend for many years.

After discussing the circumstances of keeping a horse with Viki’s parents, we started to think about a way of finding a horse for Viki.

Fortunately Miklós Szabó, our kind supporter called us when he saw Viki’s wish on our website to tell us that his horse Bendegúz would be ideal for Viki.

Bendegúz is a wonderful black pony with a white star on his forehead.
He is very friendly, especially with children, so I immediately knew that we have found the best horse for Viki.

/ 4

To make Viki even happier, she received her present on Children’s Day. How did they like each other? The photos and Viki’s letter might give you the answer:

"Thank you very much for Bendegúz, you made one of my biggest dreams come true! I received him just a few days ago but he has already given me wonderful moments. Whenever it is possible I spend my time with him.
I have already walked him and even sat on his back after saddling him with the help of a friend of mine. My friend can ride a horse so she could really try Bendegúz and I sat on his back while he was being led.
I will learn how to ride a horse, so I can also do it on my own soon!"

After receiving Viki’s letter I talked to her on the phone and she invited us for a horse riding.
We really hope that we can visit them this year!

Luca (5 years old, Komárom 3. p.)

Luca is a chatty and vivacious little girl. When she heard that she could ask for something from the genie of Csodalámpa, she didn’t think twice as she became very fond of Bobó.

When she spent time in Hotel Kolping in Alsópáhok, she became enthralled by this cartoon character that is “alive” and walks among the guests to the great amusement of the children. Luca wished to return to this place, and this wish was soon realized thanks to the hotel.

On the 12th of May, when the hotel celebrated its 15th anniversary, the girl and her family were greeted ceremoniously, and Luca was greeted by Bobó specially.

We hope that the memory of the following days full of relaxing, playing, and enjoyment will stay with her forever.

We would like to thank the support of the Hotel Kolping, this was the third time they made a dream come true to one of our children!

We would also like to thank the Linde Gáz Zrt. for providing Luca with the necessary medical equipment on the spot.
