ÁDÁM (15, VERESEGYHÁZ)
Ádám’s favourite free time activity is riding a horse. He learned it years ago. Despite his age, this hobby led him to Bud Spencer és Terence Hill movies especially the parts where they ride their horses but he likes the fighting scenes too.
After thinking it through, he asked the Magic Lamp Foundation to take him to the places where his favourite movie characters rode their beloved horses. He even gave us some hint about the shooting locations. Most of them was taken in South-Spain.
Our dear voluntary and supporter, Mónika lives in Madrid for a while now and she is a tour gide there so the opportunity was given where should we go for help.
We managed to find the right locations near Madrid, there were big mountaines and nice beaches around, everything that Ádám asked for.
His first time riding a horse there was a really big joy for him, they were in the mountaines for hours. Ádám was with a local teacher, who was amazed by the boy’s knowledge so he even led him to gallop. The trip began in the morning and they went through amazing landscapes. Ádám was a bit tired when they got back in the afternoon, but the dinner at the Hotel made his mood again.
/ 8
Next day it was time for the beach to try out on horses. Here, Anthony helped him through. This time we wanted to create the perfect movie scene: riding a horse on the beach in sunset. So he only set on a horse in the late afternoon, and they came back at night. Ádám told us, his horse went into the sea and it was a fantastic experience to see the sunset from the water. Of course we packaged his dinner for him because we knew how much he loves the Spanish food.
At the end of our journey I asked him, what was his favourite part. He gave me two quick answers: Riding a horse in the mountains and the Hotel. He said he has never eaten this much. We laughed together and I didn’t even know who enjoyed this trip more. It was fantastic to see him this happy and he was like a different person. We hope this trip will help him to recoverand be stronger.

VIRÁG BOGLÁRKA (16, BODAJK)
Virág asked for a large screen tablet from Magic Lamp Foundation as she uses internet on a daily basis just like every teen.
Virág and her mom visited us at our office, so there we could fulfill her wish and gave her the tablet. She carefully unpacked it, and we instantly saw the curiosity on her face, thinking about which movie will she watch first on the new tablet.
Dear Virág, we hope this special gift will give you lots of joy.

ANNA (18, MÁLYI)
Anna (left) had dreamed to see the sea...
She likes the biology that is why besides the view of the sea she is interested in the seelife too.
When I have called her with the great news that we are planning to travel to South-Spain with other children, especially Alexandra and Adam, her fellow-patients, she said yes immediately to my question whether she could join us.
The children were very excited when we met at the airport, unfortunately our plane had 4 hours delay because of the bad weather.
So we have arrived to the hotel very late night and we had no chance to see the sea. The following morning Anna was very happy when she saw the fantastic blue sea from their balcony. She was all smiles at the breakfast and kept smiling during the whole trip.
As a sea fan, she collected sea shells (starting early morning), swimmed a lot and was delighted to visit the Sealife Aquarium in Torremolinos. Torremolinos is a wonderful small town with long beach where you can walk for hours. In the botanic gardens there are amazing flowers and trees and what is more important for a "future biology teacher", near to this town there is a real crocodile farm.
I have to tell you that we were very happy to see that there are stone railings between the crocos and us, but we were near enough to watch them very accurately. They looked quite unfriendly and we were very surprised to hear from the animal careers that the crocodiles like very much to lie in the sunshine for hours with opened mouth. Maybe it is true but I rather thought that seeing our smiling, pretty and happy small group they were thinking about the dinner...
Anna like Alexandra also was interested in the Spanish culture, so we have visited Ronda, a beautiful medieval city. With our local volunteer we visited the city, the old amphitheatre with a bull sculpture. We were walking a lot in the beautiful gardens. We felt we are lost in the flower sea.
Anna was never tired, she made lot of pictures and went down 300 stairs with me to admire Guadiaro, the river of the ancient city, running in a deep canyon. We could not really imagine how the water bearers were able to go down and up several times a day to bring water to the royal family and to the other citizens.
/ 15
As I could see, Anna has got lot of power from this trip. After our return I called her mom Kati and she told me that this adventure and the experiences reinforced Anna's previous intention to become a biology teacher.
When Anna told to her daddy about this amazing trip she added that now she is preparing very hard for the maturity exams, so she would be able to take her students to this marvelous place.
I believe one cannot deram of a more meaningful "thank you" and I wish you Anna to realise all of your dreams!

Dear Magic Lamp!
I would like to thank you for the wonderful present you gave me. All five days of our trip were fantastic, and these exceptional experiences will stay with me all my life. |
I had a wonderful time on the beach, and while touring Malaga, to swim in the sea and sunbathing on the sand... I could meet "representatives" of the sealife, a few jelly fish and were able to collect quite a lot of sea shells while walking on the seaside. It was great that I could visit the nearby old city of Ronda, the most beautiful place I have ever seen. |
I would like to thank you once again for this unic experience and I wish you could give such a joy to many other ill children, like me. |
ALEXANDRA (15, GÁDOROS)
Alexandra's dream was to travel to the sea.
When I have asked what she wished to do there she has answered me modestly that to swim, to see the wildlife of the sea and if it is possible to see the countryside too.
When I have called her and her mom that we are planning to travel to Terramolinos in Spain, where we can grant the wish of Adam, one of her fellow patient's wish - to ride on the places where the Bud Spencer westerns were filmed - and Anna will also come, she agreed to join us with great pleasure.
I met the excited children and mums at the Budapest airport, and as our plane was delayed almost 4 hours because of foul weather, we had time to make acquintances. We arrived to the hotel very late that night.
In the morning Alexandra was very happy to see the fantastic blue sea from the balcony. She was smiling in the sunshine and even at the breakfast table; her good mood was steady during the whole trip.
Alexandra collected sea shells and stones, swimmed a lot in the sea and in the hotel's swimming pools. She prefered the pool on the roof because the sea could be seen from there, but her biggest favorite was the beach where she spent hours every day.
/ 14
It was fantastic to see that the children felt themselves very well and knowing that their friendship will be kept for life. After the long days and lots of experiences, by dinner time they were very tired, but they were not tired enough not to taste in many rounds the local specialities at the reastaurant.
As Alexandra were interested also in the local wildlife and culture, she joined Anna and came with us gladly to the botanic gardens and of course to a very special place: a croocodile farm. Alexandra held in her arms a small (?), two years old crocodile. (I would have never done this, not even to touch such a beast...)
The other highlight of the trip was the visit to Ronda where we were walking the historical places of the city. We were in wonderful parks, we met very kind people and we have seen the old amphitheatre with a bull sculpture. Finally we had a short rest at the Palacio del Rey Moro, the arabic emperor's beautiful garden.
After our late flight home, Alexandra and her mom could spent the night in Budapest, as guests of ArtOtel, long time supporter of our mission.
As soon as she arrived home, Alexandra sent us a letter:
"I would like to thank the Magic Lamp Foundation for making my dream true and I could travel to Spain to the seaside. We have done and seen lots of interesting things like our visit to Ronda or the walks in Malaga. Besides the fantastic excursion I got two wondeful new friends, we talked a lot to each other and laughed a lot.
It is hard to find words of thanks to Éva as through her I could learn a lot about Spanish culture, and how the people lives there. And of course I thank the fun experiences to the others in the group, without them it would not have been the same."
I believe that we do not need nicer thanks, than these lines....

EMMA LORETTA (12, OROSZLÁNY)
The 13-year-old Emma asked for a white laptop. She spends a lot of time in the hospital, and the laptop will help her with her studies, especially with her English studies.
Emma's favourite subject is English, and she loves watching movies in English.
We wanted to keep our arrival a secret, but Emma being a smart girl found it out. When we arrived with the big brown box, she already knew...
She happily opened the box, admired the beautiful pearly white laptop, and quickly switched it on. Meanwhile we started chatting about movies and actors, and she told us that her favourite actor was Johnny Depp. So we taled a bit more about our favourite Johnny Depp movies. Interestingly Emma's favourite is Sweeeney Todd:)
Dear Emma, we hope that you will enjoy your cool new laptop and you will watch many-many movies (after all the homework is done of course)

RENÁTA (9, HAJDÚBÖSZÖRMÉNY)
Yesterday morning a little girl's wish was fulfilled. It would be hard to define who was the Giver and who was the the Given as both of us got something and gave something very special.
In August I was surfing on the net and somehow I came across the Magic Lamp Foundation's homepage where I found a young girl, called Renáta who lives in Hajduböszörmeny. She wished for a tablet and I decided to get in touch with the genies of the foundation. The "Genie's centre" redirected me to Eva, one of the wish-coordinators.
She told me that Reni did not specified any need concerning the tablet so I asked myself the big question: If I were in her position what kind of tablet would I like to receive? So after I figured out my dream tablet I went in "Tabletcountry" where I asked whether they had the right gear with 32 Gb memory and a well-designed case.
After that I only had to wait for Reni's family to inform me about when will they be at the hospital in Debrecen where Reni would got the next treatment, so that I could jump on my magic carpet with my parents to deliver this present to it's new owner.
When we met Eva she told us that Reni is a shy girl who does not like to talk much. Can we imagine how hard was it the find out what she really wished for? So me and my family agreed on that I will go alone into her ward not to scare her too much with our unknown faces.
Stepping into her room we found Reni hiding under her blanket. We asked her mom, Gabi what was the matter and she replied that the doctors were afraid of letting Reni home today so they should stay here for a couple of days more. I recognised two little eyes observing us and looking at me uncomprehending and trying to figure out what was going on. Eva reminded her of the Genies of the Magic Lamp so she was surprised and was very curious about what was going to happen next.
I asked her whether she remembered what she wished for and her answer was a quiet yes.
Than I told her to look into my bag as maybe there will be something in it that she would like. She looked at me as I was a little crazy, which anyways was true as I was crazy to make her happy. When she touched the box of the tablet it was obvious that she didn't dare to believe that all of this was really, so we cheered her to open the box and look inside of it. So when she pulled out the 10 inch Huawei MediaPad T3 WiFi + 4G/LTE tablet, well that was the moment when her face lighted up. To make the machine work I tset up the tablet with the assistance of her mom, Gabi. So when it finally worked we gave it to Reni who fell in love with her little new friend - the brand new tablet. And from that specific moment she got into a brand new world we were not part of, well, at least not yet. 😉
But there came my farewell. It was time to say goodbye. Reni raised her head on me and smiled at me with sparkling eyes. That was the nicest gift I could ever wish for.
For a bit of time in the hallway I was chatting with Eva when Gabi came to me with my bag which I left in Reni's room. And she didn't came empty handed, I mean obviously she had my backpack but in a metaphorical way she told us about some new miracles:
- Reni was all smiles
- Reni said to her that she was hungry - that has not happened for a long time...
Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to be part of a miracle like this. I feel like I become addicted to one of the healthiest drugs in the world: the power of giving someone joy and I don't feel like I should ever let go of this kind of addiction. So this was not the last time you heard about me.
We hope with me parents that we were able to help Reni to her full- recovering.
Reni, I would like to wish you strength to hold on until a full recovery.
Keep up the good work, Magic Lamp foundation and do not hesitate for even a second to continue doing what you do and the spread the joy on the ill children's faces.
Much love,
(practicing aunt and fairy godmother)

KRISZTIÁN (12 ÉVES, SZERENCS)
Krisztian has been a patient of the children's hospital in Miskolc for month, stucked between four walls.
No wonder his hobby is playing video games on the internet. He wanted to play with his
friends and that is how he came to the idea, that he would like to receive a laptop from the Magic
Lamp foundation.
The day his present arrived he was not feeling very well. But as soon I stepped into Krisztian's room his face lit up without even knowing what a special day it was going to be. He was very excited and when finally he unwrapped the gift everyone could see how happy he was.
At first he said how gorgeous the laptop looked and then he switched it on, checked what kind of operation system it had and as he found it adequate for his needs he started playing with his favourite game. As the minutes went by his smile became wider and wider and it was obvious that he is going to remember this day for the rest of his life. His bad mood from half an hour before has disappeared entirely.
We have seen again that the joy caused by a fulfilled wish helps so much the kids, parents and medical teams to cope with these sever illnesses.
We hope that Krisztian gets well soon and will be able to use his laptop for many years from now.

BENCE ZALÁN (3 ÉVES, BUDAPEST)
The young Zalán’s dream was to invite for a ride his friend from the nursery, Olivia in his own car.
So I went on a nice sunny afternoon to Zalan’s family to surprise the little boy.
Earlier that day at the hospital he got some serious treatment, so he was tired and his mood was not too bright when I arrived.
To cheer him up I decided cut my visit short and gave him the police car without much fuss. I thought that he will be less shy with only his family around him.
And I was right as since then he has been racing with the car all around and has taken his little girlfriend for some rides too.
I received pictures from his mother which was taken while he was sleeping in his car, so its has multiple functions too...

DZSENIFER GRÉTA (13, GÖRBEHÁZA)
June 16th, 2018 was a big day for the 15-year-old Cintia and the 12-year-old Dzsenifer. They and their moms met at the Liszt Ferenc Airport to fly to London, the place of their dreams.
None of the girls had been on an airplane before, thus the flight was a fantastic experience for them. After arriving at Luton airport, we took the train to London. During the train ride, the girls got a little taste of the English countryside and its picturesque towns. After check-in and a little rest, we got on the tube to go to Buckingham Palace. The girls were looking in awe at the beautiful residence of the Queen. Then we walked over to Trafalgar square to admire Nelson's Column.
Sunday morning we got on a sightseeing bus. Our first stop was King Cross Station to see the 9 and 3/4 platform. The girls had their photos taken decked out in Gryffindor scarves and holding wands. Our next stop was the Tower of London. After a short coffee break, we took a boat tour on the Thames. We admired the beautiful buildings lining both sides of the river. After the boat tour, we headed to Leicester square to admire the Lego World store and exhibition, and the world's biggest M&M's store.
We also visited the New Scotland Yard and the Household Cavalry Museum. The gate is guarded by two members of the Mounted Household Cavalry who were sitting on their horses looking very stern.
Our adventures continued Monday morning on the London Eye. Everybody must try it once! We could not stop turning from side to side in the cabin, admiring the awesome panorama. And it is very safe. One of us was a bit afraid of heights, but even she was stuck to the windows, looking out.
Next, we headed to the Parliament and Big Ben. They were very impressive, even though Big Ben was hiding under scaffolding. Since we were in the neighbourhood, we checked out 10 Downing Street as well.
After that, we visited Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral. The abundance of sights, the statues, the windows, the enormous vaults, all the gold, and marble, was almost too much to take in.
/ 3
We left Madame Tussaud's for the last day. During the 2 hours we spent there we made numerous pictures and admired the very realistic vax figures. We saw the members of the royal family, and many famous writers, politicians, movies stars, and athletes. And of course, everybody's favourites, the cast of Star Wars. On a small train that was adorned with the logo of our Magic Lamp, we traveled through the streets of London, from the 17th century to the present, getting a little taste of the atmosphere of London in different eras.
Then we returned to the hotel to have a little rest before heading to the airport. (We would like to thank the hotel for their hospitality.) We recalled the countless great sights we had seen and these wonderful 4 days. The girls were talking about the many marvels they had seen and all the fantastic experiences, and how they could hardly wait to share their memories with their families, friends, and classmates.
We arrived back to Budapest just after midnight, exhausted, but full of fantastic experiences.

EVELIN (14, ÚJHARTYÁN)
Evelin's dream was to swim with dolphins. Please read her own words about her unic experience:
I spent the most amazing four days of my life on the beautiful island of Malta between the 26th and 29th of May 2018, with a group.
The excitement began on the first day because I flew on an airplane for first time in my life. I had been looking forward to it very much but had been a little bit afraid, too. The flight was 2 hours long. Two Hungarian families were waiting for us when we arrived.
While they were preparing lunch for us, we had an opportunity to take a dip in the sea. It was wonderful. After lunch, we checked in into our hotel. We settled in and went into town where we had lunch in a Turkish restaurant. Everybody like the food a lot.
Next day was the day I had been waiting for so eagerly. After breakfast, a small bus picked us up and took us to the Malta Marine Park.
First Hédi, Kinga, Peter, and I swam with the dolphins. I cannot even describe how amazing it was since I had been dreaming about it for so long. Afterward, we watched a seal show, which was also great.
After the dolphin show, Nandi had an opportunity to pet the dolphins since he did not swim with them.
On the way out we stopped in the souvenir shop where we all got some toys and pictures about our dolphin adventure.
After we got back to the hotel we splashed around in the pool. We had dinner in the city again, but this time directly on the seaside, which was beautiful. We managed to find some ice cream that even I was able to eat.
Next day we went on a boat trip. The boat stopped at two places where we could swim. I enjoying swimming in the open sea very much. We got back early evening. We had dinner in the city again, this time it was pizza. After dinner, we went into a little shop to buy some typical Maltese sweets for the people back home.
Next morning we quickly rushed down to the sea to say goodbye. After that, we packed our things and headed to the airport. We arrived back to Budapest early afternoon.
We would like to say a very special thank you to Mellow Mood Hotels, Firstmed-FMC Kft. and our private sponsors especially to Veronica, Andrew and their friends for making this wonderful experience possible. We would also thank the Hungarian colony on Malta for their amazing hospitality.

When she got home, her new bed was waiting for her. It was covered with a beautiful blanket so it matched the nice princess stickers on the walls. The matching desk she got with the bed still needs to be assembled but when it’s ready the little girl’s room will be perfect.

I met two excited girls at the airport. They have never flown and stayed in a hotel. Nóra and Ramóna have spent three fantastic days in Disneyland.
They enjoyed the flight, the hotel, to swim in the swimmingpool of the hotel, to travel by TGV, to jump with a parachute, to travel by different trains, by switchback railway, by boats, to drive a car, to fly on a rocket, to visit Aladdin's cave and to visit the different souvenir shops. Of course we have seen the fireworks in the park at 11 o'clock in the evening." It was great," said the girls.
They took part in different attractions several times. They enjoyed the Hollywood Studio as well.
They were very happy when some photos were taken with Pluto and Goofy. They often said: "It is fantastic, it is great. Many thanks to Magic Lamp"
The three days were full of adventures The girls enjoyed everything in spite of some "unwanted adventures" like our plane was delayed 35 minutes later in Budapest, then there was a strike of the TGV workers in Paris and our flight home to Budapest was cancelled...

Timea is a quiet, smiley young girl, who even upon the first encounter with the gin told him she would like a smartphone.
She, unfortunately, had to spend extended amounts of time in hospital and time passes slowly when you are surrounded by the walls of the hospital. She misses the conversations and fun with her sisters and friends. It’s easier to get through the hours, days, with a fun game or video from the internet. All of this can be achieved through a smartphone!
Due to her treatment she looked at me a little nauseated when I stood next to her bed in the room. At first she just thought I was here to talk, but when I started to fiddle in my bag, shew was exited and the tension rose. Not before long a little box appeared housing a large screen Samsung Galaxy smartphone. It was even in the color she wished for.
At first she didn’t even believe it, that her wish came true so quickly. At first she just played around but then she begin to explore all the smart and some not so smart features of the device.
We wish her a lot of jiy in the usage of her new phone.
