BENCE (16, BÁTONYTERENYE)

Bence sent us a kind letter about his wonderful trip to Barcelona:

Dear Magic Lamp!

I would like to thank you, your team, the staff of the kidney ward of the Children's Clinic, Dr. Peter Sallai, and nurse Kati for making my wish come true.

FC Barcelona has been my favourite football team since I was a little boy, and I always wanted to see them play at their home stadium. Last April I was given the opportunity to make a wish to Magic Lamp, and there was no doubt in my mind what it would be. Unfortunately, it had to be postponed due to my illness. But eventually, to my great surprise, I was given the green light thanks to Dr. Sallai, who took it upon himself to provide medical supervision on the trip.

Our flight to Barcelona left at 8 pm on February 23, 2018. My uncle Gergő also joined us. Flying was an amazing experience because this was the first time I traveled by plane.

We landed in Barcelona at 10.30 pm, had dinner at the airport, then took a cab to the Arenas Atiram hotel.

On Saturday the first thing we did was to go to Camp Nou to look around in the fan shop. After that, we visited La Rambla and had lunch at La Boqueria market. We were completely blown away by the staggering selection and variety of food, especially seafood.

Spanish people were so kind, happy, and friendly, and they always smiled. There was music everywhere, and everybody was speaking so fast. After lunch, we visited the Columbus monument, then went back to the hotel to prepare for the evening game.

The Barcelona- Girona game started at 8.45 pm. It was unbelievable to see it LIVE!!!!!

The mood was great in the stadium. There was a huge crowd, 75 thousand people wanted to see the game. It was an amazing experience, the fans created a fantastic atmosphere.
It was wonderful to see the team of Barca play live, especially Messi and Coutinho. We had really good seats, about 15 meters away from the field, so we were able to see everything. It was quite an exciting game, and Barca, of course, beat the opposition 6 to 1. Sunday morning after breakfast we set off again to attend a stadium tour. We spent 3 hours there and it was such a great experience seeing the empty stadium, the change rooms, the different trophies, and even walking onto the pitch and sitting on the first team bench.

After the Camp Nou experience, we visited La Sagrada Familia, which is a magnificent building. We also visited Catalunya, which was also a fantastic experience. After that, we returned to our hotel feeling very tired, but full of amazing experiences. Monday morning we headed to the airport and by noon we were back to Budapest.

I would like to thank Csodalámpa again for these unforgettable days, and the fantastic experience.I will cherish it for the rest of my life.

I would like to thank Dr. Peter Sallai again for accompanying me on this trip.

Thank you,
Bence

Kornélia (17, Katymár)

Kornélia wished for a mobile phone. But not just for any phone, but a beautiful Huawei smart phone.

She was very happy when we gave her the phone and excitedly opened the box right away.
"Wow, it's so beautiful" - she said when finally she held the phone in her hand.

In a few seconds she was completely absorbed in it.

We hope that Kornélia will enjoy her new phone a lot!

We would like to say a special thank in the name of Kornelia too to the leaders and members of XpatLoop, the largest Hungarian expat community, for organizing the Budapest Bonfire Night Party for Charity and for the donations raised at the event.

ZSOLT (16 ÉVES, TISZABEZDÉD)

Although Zsolt is on a waitinglist for a serious operation, we did not think that he would get back so soon to our hospital plus almost immediately taken to our ICU...

We wanted to do something to cheer him up, as his treatments will lats quite some time ... and in the perfect moment arrived the present of Magic Lamp, the "wish" of Zsolt.

When I presented him the package, he opened it and happily shouted: "Wow, that is fantastic! And so thin..." He swithched on the tablet he wished for and started to study it's features.

We wish Zsolt a fast recovery and many happy hours with his new tablet.

RAMÓNA (6, HAJDÚHADHÁZ)

Ramona wished for a "playhouse" that in wintertime can be erected in her room and when spring comes one can use it in the garden too.

The little girl was very happy seeing the huge box - at the hospital it was impossible to unpack it - her parents promised to assamble the playhouse as soon as they arrive home.

Get well Ramona, and have lots of happy hours with your brand new house!

IMRE LEVENTE (16, GÁRDONY)

Levente is a fan of mobile phones like many of his teenage friends. When he learned as a patient of the National Cardiology Institut, that he can wish for "something" as his first thought came the word "handy".
After some reflections he wished for an iPhone 6 and the Genie of our Magic Lamp rushed to get one for him...

We wish Imre Levente a fast and full recovery.

GYÖRGY (12, ISTVÁNDI)

Gyuri arrived to our clinic for a scheduled treatment. As at each occasion he asked us, when his wish will be granted...

This time the treatment was rather burdening for him, but when I entered his ward with the package he immediately sat up and started to open it with the help of his father.

The laptop was switched on and we hope that browsing the Internet and playing games will make his days at the hospital seem much shorter...

We wish György a fast recovery an lots of fun with his new computer.

András (4, Pécs)

András, like many of his age group is a real LEGO fan. No wonder that he asked fro a LEGO Police Station.
He was really excited, not knowing when a Genie will bring him his "wish"...
Well, in the end it was not a Genie, only me, who gave him the many boxes containing the many pieces of the police station, but he was not at all disappointed.
His somehow michievous smile radiated such great joy!

NATALIA (15, PRÜGY)

Natalia’s wish was an Iphone 7. She lives in a dorm so this phone would make easier the communication with her parents. It could of course also help with her studies.

I told Natalia to come in to the hospital for a medical checkup for the 18th of December.
Natalia’s mother knew everything, she helped me with the surprise by not telling anything to her daughter.

Nati was quite upset at the hospital. She seemed depressed and she wouldn’t have thought that a surprise was waiting for her. But when she saw her present in my hand, she was immediately happy and cheerful.

We set up the smartphone quickly and she started playing with it like a little girl. She was incredibly happy that her Christmas wish came true in the end.

We would like to thank our private supporters,
especially the employees of the UNHCR Global Service Centre for their support.

MARTIN (16, LAJOSMIZSE)

Martin lives in Lajosmizse with his mom and his sister. He wanted a big-screen smart TV, to watch movies and series, and to play computer games on the big screen.

The TV was delivered a week before Christmas, but we could not visit the family before the 23rd. (until that day, only in December, Magic Lamp's nationwide wish-granting network has fulfilled 35 different wishes of life threatheningly ill children...)

Martin had a difficult week, looking at the big box, and dying to open it to see what was inside...
So he was very happy and excited when we finally arrived to officially present it to him.
He had already watched some videos on youtube, so he expertly opened the box and proceeded to set up the TV.
It was placed in the family room so the whole family can sit down and watch programs together.

We wish all the best to Martin and hope that he and his family will enjoy their wonderful new TV. We would like to say a big thank you for the beautiful gingerbread house that Martin’s mom made for us.

We would like to thank in the name of Martin too for the support given by our private donors, Mr Richard Jacobs and his friends.

Diána (4, Debrecen)

On the 3rd of December was the day when me and my family picked up our electric screwdrivers and went to a really nice family to fulfill a - for me very important - little girl’s wish...

The two dads were building the bed, the moms were cooking and the kids were playing.
Dius (nickname of Diana) was really happy about her new bed and all day long she was telling us how excited she is about the evening when she will at last sleep in it.
The dads worked fast, the bed was ready by the afternoon and Dia was looking at it with glittering eyes.

She has already invited Hanna – my younger doughter – for a pyjama party.
We would like to thank that another wish could have been fulfilled.

We would like to say a special thank in the name of Diana too to the leaders and members of XpatLoop, the largest Hungarian expat community, for organizing the Budapest Bonfire Night Party for Charity and for the donations raised at the event.

Bence (16, Szákszend)

It was a well kept secret for Bence that his wish is about to be fulfilled - his mother only told him that she invited some new friends...

As we arrived with the big box and the new XBOX inside he was at first quite surprised but then soon got really excited. After the "official" handover he told us how deep he was touched by the big surprise...

When not in home, Bence lives in a dorm and despite his severe illness he leads a fully balanced and independent life as a teenage boy. Thanks to his excellent academic achievements he gets a scholarship too.

We would like to thank in Bence's name too the support of Firstmed-FMC Kft..

ALEXANDRA (17, HAJDÚSZOBOSZLÓ)

Alexandra has been taking singing lessons since she was a little girl and she performed at school and city events with her high school musical team.
After having recovered from a serious surgery she told us her secret wish: she would like to perform with famous singers on stage.
We have learnt about her wish about the time when we started planning the foundation’s first charity event with 300 guests to be invited so we thought this would be a great opportunity for Alexandra to go on stage and sing. She said she would be happy to perform to our guests – and accepted to be one of the „surprises” of the event.

Our only problem was that Alexandra lives quite far from the famous singers she was going to sing with. It was quite a challenge for her as she had to study for school exams, so she couldn’t travel a lot.
She learned the songs from the Internet and communicated on-line with the other – professional, to say the least - singers.
The special day came finally when Alexandra arrived to the beautiful Hilton Budapest Hotel from Hajdúszoboszló. After a quick sightseeing at the Buda Castle she could finally meet the singers to practice a little together before the big performance. There was not much time for that but Alexandra fared well.
In the crowded ballroom 300 people were waiting for the surprise.
The evening started with a few short speaches then Zoran Stevanovity and his band sung a few songs. After the mini-concert, Zorán invited Alexandra on the stage to sing with them. Their vocal sounded fantastic while singing Zorán’s hit „Mi kéne még”. The crowd was clapping and cheering… Then Alexandra performed another song alone.

/ 6

Later in the evening she could sing another duet with Kata Csondor and the Soul Family. People really loved her performances.
This was a most touching wish fulfilment for everyone present, as our supporters could see the moment of a „Magic lamp” wish coming true.
Alexandra could not stay to the end of the charity event as she had a medical test scheduled for next morning at the Bókai street pediatic clinic.
We hope that this night gives her strength to recover fully as soon as possible.

We would like to thank the 300 guest who were with us on our fundraising event which took part at the Hilton Budapest Hotel. With the guest’s support we could fulfill Alexandra’s dream and next year we shall fulfil many other children’s wish.

We would like to thank Zorán and his musician friends, Csondor Kata and the Soul Family and of course the Hilton Budapest Hotel for helping us to grant Alexandra’s special wish.

BIANKA (7, Budapest)

300 people fulfilled Bianka’s wish when we invited the little girl and her family to our fundraising event.
Despite her young age, Bianka was not shy at all in front of these many people. She walked to the stage with confidence.

Her mother told us that in the last 2 years Bianka spent most of her time in the hospital or in her room because of the medical treatments. She really likes building things and her favourite toy she plays with is LEGO. That is why she asked for the LEGO medical hospital series from the Magic Lamp Foundation.

When we told them we will hand over Bianka’s present at the event we asked her mother to be with her daughter on the stage. But Bianka told us she is a big girl so she can handle this by herself. When her name was said at the event, she was right there on the stage immediately. She had a big smile on her face when she got the two big boxes and she also greeted her supporters with a big smile.

/ 3

She unpacked the LEGO-s at their table and she already started in her head to build it...
As she was not afraid of the crowd, we asked Bianka’s help at the raffle.

This was a big and long day for the little girl but we hope the love she got this day will help her heal fully as soon as possible.

We would like to thank the 300 guest who were with us on our fundraising event which took part at the Hilton Budapest . With the guest’s support we could fulfill Bianka’s dream and next year we are planning on fulfilling many other children’s wish.

VANDA (4, MISKOLC)

On a nice autumn afternoon I arrived to the 5 years old little Vanda’s home.

She was surprised and excited because she didn’t know who I was and why I was there.

After a little talk we became friends easily. After the chit-chat the time has come to give her the surprise which was a fire red Mercedes electric car. When Vanda saw it her eyes were shining from the excitement. Her wish came true!
First, she walked around to get a closer look and then she got into her new car and didn’t want to get out of it...

I wish her all the best and a fantastic driving experience in her new car!

Dorina (12, Nyírbátor)

Dorina was about to go home from the hospital after her serious heart surgery. Unfortunately she had to return to the ICU for some complication and stay there for a little more. This was quite a shock for the little girl. She was really waiting for the Gini of Magic Lamp to arrive even before this misfortune but after this we knew she needed urgent help to boost her morale...

Our caring supporters understood the seriousness of the situation and they gave up on being there personally at the granting of Dorina's wish as they wouldn’t even have been allowed to enter the intensive care unit. So I decided to fulfil the wish of the young girl that day.

She was really excited and happy seeing the big package ...she immediately started unwrapping it with her mother’s help. She was pleased to notice that her new PC had a camera and a cd-drive also - nowadays a rarity.

Many thanks for the support of the students, their parents and teachers of the American International School of Budapest!

MÁTYÁS BENCE (10, BUDAPEST)

Matyi has a very curious and versatile personality. He is really interested in PC games and cycling. His favourite "objects" to play with are drones an helicopters. Matyi needed some time to figure out what he would really want from the Gini od ur Magic Lamp, but then he realized he would love a "real" quadcopter.

We surprised the young boy at the hospital who was eagerly waiting for his gift. We arranged the time and place with his mother on the phone which gave the vigilant Matyi the opportunity to figure out that the big surprise must be under way...
When I arrived with the big box in my hands Matyi told me delightfully that he felt we were coming because of the mysterious phone calls...

We instantly opened the box for Matyi, who started assembling the pieces like a professional aircraft mechanic. The outside world disappeared for him as he was working on the quadcopter.
I asked him if he is going to give a name for his new machine. His answer was yes, it’s name will be Thrown-drone. He also told me the meaning of this name but it should remain our secret...

We wish Matyi to heal completely and lots of fun time with his wonder drone.

We would like to thank the students, parents and the teachers of the American International School of Budapest for their decade long support.

MARCELL (16, SZEGED)

Marcell wanted to spend an unforgettable weekend in London to see a match of his favourite football team, the Chelsea F.C.

The team surprised us with an invitation to the gala lunch before the game. Later on we could watch an exciting game, both teams were really good, and luckily Chelsea won by 4:2.

Next day Marci had the chance to visit the stadium. They could look around „behind the scenes”, walk through the dressing rooms, sit in the coach’s chair and they saw the field from a closer look. After this adventure they went to see the city’s other monuments, and they took a rest in the famous Hyde Park and it’s neighbourhood.

To make this journey more memorable for Marci they had their last dinner in the Hard Rock Cafe.
I hope this journey was just as memorable for Marci as to us. We wish him good health and success in his life.

We would like to thank the managment and employees of UniCredit Bank Hungary Zrt. for their kind support.

We would also like to thank WIZZAIR and also Mrss. János Szövérfi and Zoltán Bartos for arranging Marci the opportunity to take part in the gala lunch with the team.

We would like to thank also our other private supporters for their help.

ZSANETT (17, GYOMAENDRŐD)

Please read Zsanett's own words about her long awaited trip to London

We flew to London on a Wednesday from Budapest. Annamari waited for us at the airport and we went together to the London Marriott Marble Arch Hotel .
The director of the hotel, Mr. Ross Patton and his staff was really kind to us they even prepared surprises for me like the sweets on the photo.

We started nex day the sightseeing at the Buckingham Palace . We have seen the beautiful collection of the Queen of paintings, some marvellous chambers and wonderful spring-carriages, too. We liked the Big Ben the Westminster Abbey and the Changing of the Guard. It was great!!!

Friday was full with programms, too. We have seen the London Eye, the Thames, the Tower and the Tower Bridge. We travelled by the underground and a double decker , too. We have been to Tate Modern and visited The Shard and of course went to the British Museum. To finish the day we "submerged" into the heavy traffic in the Oxford Street. This day was fantastic, too.

/ 14

We spent the most part of my last day in London at the Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. This, I will never forget! I have seen there a 4D film, too. Watching an English speaking film?4? I was afraid that I won't understand a word, but as it came out there was no problem with understanding it. We had lunch in a pub with Annamari. We ate a typical English food, fish and chips, which was very tasty.
Time passed rapidly and we had to go to the airport.

Zsanett

We are greatful for the many kind of support of the management and staff of London Marriott Marble Arch Hotel , our private donors and supporters, among them Mr. Rick Engers and the bicycle team of Deutsche Wirtschaftsclub Ungarn and the ZHERO IT company and Daalarna, that allowed us make Zsanett's wish-granting unforgettable. We would also thank His Excellency Mr. Iain Lyndsey, Ambassador of Great Britain to Hungary, that he invited Zsanett and her mum to the Residence and presented her with a beautiful book.

Csongor (9 years old, Székesfehérvár)

Csongor's wish was from the Magic Lamp to organize a visit to Kidzania Park into Moscow. His father used to study there and the boy was eager to see how Moscow looks like...

His wish has been fulfilled with the help of the director Mr. Adrian Gray of Lotte Hotel Moscow.

I met a 10 years old excited boy at the airport in Budapest on a Friday morning . His name was Csongor. He has never flown, yet. We arrived in Moscow after a pleasant flight, and Csongor enjoyed the flight.
A car of the Hotel Lotte was waiting for us and took us to the hotel. The director, Mr. Adriann Gray and his colleagues were waiting for Csongor with a surpise gift and fantastic programs.

A travel guide, Elena showed us the most important sights in the city on the first day: the Red Square, the Kreml, the Vasily Blashenniy Church and of course the GUM Shopping Centre. Csongor knew if he drops some Rubels into the fountain of GUM ,he will return into the city, so he did it.

/ 10

The huge old buildings fascinated Csongor here.

The next surprice was the Museum of Astronouts. Csongor liked the spaceships, the film about the training of the astronouts and the stuffed dogs, like Laikta, that were used to flight test of the space ships.
He looked up and foun Farkas Bertalan's photo as well.
The museum made a surprise for Csongor, too. He was allowed to put on one of the spacesuits.
His father took some pictures about him, of course.
There was no end of this day.
We went to the Marmor Palace, to the Armoury. He enjoyed them very much. We saw the Changing of the Guard at 6 o' clock, too. Csongor returned to the beautiful hotel rich in experience but a little bit tired that day.

The high point of the next day was the Kidzania-Park. He could fly an airplane. He learnt to drive a car and got a driving licence, which is valid in Kidzania for 2 years. He worked as a fire man and he fought a fire. He was a serviceman as well and repaired wheels. He made joghurt in a milk factory.

Csongor enjoyed everything very much. He always said: " It is great!" He went with sparkling eyes to the next program, which was a boat trip on the river Moscow. he said: " It is fantastic! ". Before going to bed he swam a little bit in the Wellness of the hotel. He could hardly go asleep from the lot of experiences that night.

We visited some beautiful metro stations on the last day. Csongor admired the huge buildings and the huge traffic on the way to the hotel.

We gratefully thank in the name of Csongor Mr Adrian Gray and his colleagues of Lotte Hotel Moscow for the hospitality and support thay did for Csongor. We also want to thank the support of FGSZ Földgázszállító Zrt. allowing us to realise Csongor's special wish.
