Ottó Dávid (17, Budapest)

David's dream was to see F C. Barcelona play a match in Camp Nou.

Our flight took off from Budapest on Tuesday early morning, so I met David and his father at the airport around 4.30 am. Since they had never flown before, they were very excited and happy to finally travel by plane.
We landed in Barcelona in beautiful sunny weather. We took the metro to our hotel, conveniently located just a corner away from Camp Nou.

Next day we decided to visit the futball museum and the stadium. We marveled at the different trophies, such as the golden soccer balls of Messi, and the different pictures and videos.
It was very heart warming to see the statue of our fellow Hungarian, László Kubala. Naturally we took several photos in front of it.

Camp Nou is the largest futball stadium in Europe. We had a chance to see the change rooms, the press room, and even the chapel on our stadium tour.
Of course we spent plenty of time in the gift shop at the end.

In the afternoon we did some sightseeing, then walked down to the beach to check out the sea, which was another first for David and his father.
The following day we visited awe-inspiring La Sagrada Familia. We had never seen anything like that before. It cannot be described with words, everybody must visit it once if possible. There is nothing like that in the whole world. The exhibition about the life of Gaudi, his work, and the construction of the church was very interesting and informative. It made us appreciate this marvelous piece of art and architecture even more.

Next day was the big day, the day of the Game, Barca against Osasuna. Because it only started at 19.30, we had the whole day for more sightseeing. We had great seats, quite close to the field, and luckily covered, as we found out when 20 minutes into the game it started raining. Before the start of the game a huge banner was lowered on the opposite side thanking Messi for the 500 goals that he had scored in the Champions League games. Then the eagerly awaited match started.
The first goal was scored within 20 minutes by Messi of course. Then the goals started coming in quick succession, with a 7 to 1 end result.
The game was spectacular all along. After the fifth goal we had a discussion about whether there would be one or two more. Well, it was two.
After the game we had a great dinner, then retired.

The following day we visited another landmark of Barcelona, the Güell Park.
Unfortunately it was a rainy day, but the park was still a fantastic experience. Sadly next day it was time to go home. After another early start, since our flight was delayed, we had plenty of time to browse in the shops at the airport.

After a pleasant flight David returned home as a happy, cheerful young man, full of exciting experiences.

Many thanks in the name of David to the British International School, the Personal Banker Network of Fundamenta-Lakáskassza Zrt. and our private supporters!

On a nice and sunny Tuesday afternoon, we appeared with an Olaf cake at Polli’s house. She was very happy, she did not even suspect that something was going on in her yard.

While Zoltán Mátrai and his colleague built the long-awaited surprise, Polli has entertained us. We played hide and seek, baked and cooked in her little play kitchen, we draw and we laughed a lot.

Polli's big wish was to have a playground with a sloping slide in their yard! We could fulfill her dream on her birthday.
When the playground was ready, we had the little girl out to the yard. She saw the playground from the terrace and she became speechless, she covered her mouth with her hands as she was so surprised that her wish came true!!!

We would like to say a special thank you to the leaders and members of XpatLoop, the largest Hungarian expat community for organizing the Budapest Bonfire Night Party for Charity and with the money raised at the event making Polli's wish come true.

Kira (7 years old, Békéscsaba)

The little girl Kira, who is under treatment at our clinic, asked for a guitar from the Magic Lamp Foundation.

Attila Szitkai, one of our sponsors saw this request on our wishing list and he felt he had to fulfill the little girl’s dream. Attila likes playing guitar but he learnt it by himself. Kira, however is very seriously interested in playing instruments, so she would like to have lessons by a teacher.

Attila contacted me and we discussed the type and size of the guitar. Finally we made an appointment at the clinic. He took not only the requested guitar but a tuner, picks and a guitar case as an extra surprise present.

Kira was just about to left for home from the treatment when we arrived, so it was a real surprise. Kira was smiling all the time and she was very, very pleased.

Attila held an improvised show of his guitar knowledge and he also showed how the tuner worked. After having a good time, filled with happiness and joy, we said goodbye to Kira and her mother.
Attila told me that he received power, energy and happiness from the little girl. He would like to give good example to his friends and to encourage them to fulfill the wishes of sick children.

Many thanks for the help of our private supporter, Attila Szitkai!

László (6 years old, Nyíregyháza)

Lackó the 7 years old boy asked for a PS4 play station console. The gift was given in the hospital on Tuesday morning. As soon as the boy saw the large box, he already knew that his present had arrived from the Magic Lamp.

His eyes were shining and I was sure he was smiling under the mask. He quickly opened the box and was surprised because he also got a football game as an extra present. His father installed the game and Lackó could begin to play with it.

He could hardly wait to get home and play the new game with his young brother. Lackó, enjoy your present!

Many thanks for the re-support of PannErgy Nyrt.

Fruzsina Anikó (6 years old, Bicske)

When Fruzsi’s reguest arrived at the Magic Lamp Foundation, we thought it would be easy to find a kitten for her. However, it took some time, because firs of all a breeder, Xenia Schultz had to bring puppy Carlos up to become a cooperative, friendly cat.

One of our kind supporters, Szabina Sárecz - who is fond of cats – helped us to organise the first meeting with the kitten. Soon it turned out that Carlos didn’t afraid of the children, he could even tolerate playing with him by the kids – at least for a while. A few days later we met again and that time Fruzsi could take the kitten home. Fuzsi’s mother often informs us about Carlos, so we know that he is willing to sleep only at Fruzsi’s foot, he accepts food only from Fruzsi, and when the girl isn’t at home, he is waiting for her at the window. Fruzsi is very happy with the kitten, she is playing with him a lot.

Many thanks to the breeder, Xénia Schultz for her support. Fruzsi’s dream came true with her help.

Laura (8 years old, Pellérd)

I am doing a voluntary work at Magic Lamp Foundation for many-many years now.
Participating in wish fulfilling always comes with a big joy. It happened again on 01.07.2017 when we fulfilled Laura’s wish.

I have known her for quite a long time and I follow her healing procedure. She is a smart, curious girl and she is really willing to study. She asked for a laptop computer to be able to learn independently, surf on the Internet and play as well.

She was arriving for her weekly treatment and maybe she was upset a bit because she had to go there earlier than usual.
But when she saw the package in my hands she immediately started to smile. She had already knew the reason of the big rush. She was careful with unwrapping the laptop and she was continuously smiling.

We would like to thank the Corinthia Hotel Budapest and it’s generous guests the selfless support, which could lead us to fulfill this wish.

Laura (9 years old, Pécs)

When we arrived to Laura’s home, the little girl was already waving at us from her window.

The kid’s room got a new cabinet which was brought by the Magic Lamp Foundation.

Laura’s parents had already packed into it her things and now Laura enjoys packing them out of it.
But as for her toys, she personally put them into the lower drawers: she likes to pack her toys in and out of those.
As Laura suffers also from reduced mobility, she really needed a stable cabinet that won’t fall on her by accident.

Thanks to our sponsors and volunteers we could make happy another child, and her family too.

We would like to thank Corinthia Hotel Budapest and its gracious guests for their generousity, attention and selfless help, that made this wish come true.

We would also like to thank for the support of our private supporters.

Fruzsina (14 years old, Szigetszentmiklós)

Read Fruzsina's own lines about her trip:

My most wonderful dream came true in Denmark thanks to the Csodalámpa. For two years, my dream was to get to Copenhagen. And as I am a music fanatic, the famous Copenhagen Opera also attracted me.

Even the flight was a big event for us, because me and my mom have never traveled by plane. We could experience the take off four times as we had to change flights in Berlin.
The beaches of Denmark were extremely beautiful from the plane, and after we landed to this happy country, every minute was fantastic. I really liked the cyclists and the helpful people.
The first night was wonderful at the decorated Tivoli adventure park.
The next day surpassed my hopes as we went to the Opera to see the Swan Lake right after we looked around among the colorful houses at the port. Mainly, it was the music what cought me, sometimes I was watching the conductor more than the actual dance, but of course, the dancers was really talented too and the sight was amazing. I was totally amazed by the building too, and with the other spectators we become one with the story and with the music. After this, I felt like every dream of mine came true.

But I still had a lot of experience waiting for me beside this.
The walk in the Botanic Garden and front of the palace, the beach with Little Mermaid, the Kastellet, the picture gallery about french impessionists (my favourites were Gaugain and Van Gogh), the market and every walk on the crowded streets.
I could taste the really special Danish cookies and for the first time in my life I ate suchi with fresh salmon and real Danish pork roast. Meanwhile, we could delight in the city which was preparing for christmas. As the Danish people, I also didn’t mind the rain and the wind.

I would have stayed for one more week, but this few days was also a lifetime experience for me. I will be always grateful to the Csodalámpa Foundation, because they made this travelling true for me.

We would like to say a special thank in the name of Fruzsina too to the leaders and members of XpatLoop, the largest Hungarian expat community, for organizing the Budapest Bonfire Night Party for Charity and for the donations raised at the event. We would also like to thank our private donors and the KAP charity program of MagNet Hungarian Community Bank for their support, that allowed to grant this very special wish.

Dávid (13 years old, Sajólád)

Four boys, one dream: to see the FC Barcelona playing a match "live".
And for one boy, it was a huge surprise, because Adorján’s parents hadn’t told him about the trip until they got to the airport. Neither of them have traveled by plane before and when the plane started to take off, they realized that this miracle is happening to them.

We arrived to Barcelona on Friday night. The less excited ones could sleep a little...
Next morning we were walking on the city’s famous mainstreet, the Rambla and we walked down to the port, but then we hurried back to our hotel because the boys needed time to get dressed in Barca colored clothes before the big match. We already knew that Messi was injured, but miraculously, he will be playing. We went to the Camp Nou by foot and we joined the crowd passing near to our hotel, all going to the stadium. First, we were just a small group of people, but et each crossing, more and more fans joined us.

The mood was really friendly and nice. Young parents with small children, like they were just going for a picnic. This reminds me that before and after our 3 day visit, it was cold and rain, but when we were there, it was 25° and sunshine. In the stadium, we were sitting near to a corner flag. There was a wonderful and exciting atmosphere, and not because of we were sitting in one of the world’s biggest stadium with full house, but because the city, the club and the Camp Nou was in the heart of the catalans. So this intensive feeling was love. We didn’t even wonder, that team Barcelona was warming up right next to our corner flag. Messi didn’t play during the first half, but this wasn’t a problem because Barca scored 3 goals to the Deportivo. In the second half, the catalans attacked to the side where we sat so we saw Neymar’s wonderful tricks very close. A bit later Messi joined, and it didn’t take long until he scored the 4th goal, which was the final score too. The catalan’s good mood has been secured for a while, everyone left the stadium euphorically. The city’s traffic was blocked in this area by the football fans.

/ 3

Next day we were already familiar with the stadium when we went back. This time we visited the museum and we "looked behind the scenes".
It was amazing to see the relics, cups, gold shoes and goldball, all this in one place. We could take a look at the changing rooms, the press room, the small benches and we were arm’s length from the grass. The number of the boy’s Barca colored clothes and stuffs doubled that day... Then came the "icing on the cake", we went to the sandy beach nearby, and as none of the boys have never seen the sea before, they had to try and swim in it. It was a miracle even there, that in the middle of October they could still swim in the sea.
Last day, we walked through Gaudi’s famous creations, but the boys’ mind was on how they wanted to stay more and watch more matches. Although the journey lasted only 3 days, I am sure, that this memory left a mark on them forever and they are even going to tell this story to their grandchildren.

We would like to thank our sponsors and supporters, Mr. Zoltán Barthos , Mr. Szövérfi János, our private donors, and the havervagy.hu friendship association for their assistance!

We would like to pass on the thanks of the boys to Mónica Liminana and to Ms. Andrea Balatoni Kovács from Hilton Budapest City who organised a gourmet snack box for day of the match for the youngsters, courtesy of Hilton Barcelona.

Dzsenifer (17 years old, Jászladány)

Dzsenifer is a fragile, beautiful young woman, who had never had a phone before. This is why she asked for one from the Csodalámpa Foundation.
She was so happy that she could hardly utter a word... She was just looking at her beautiful and colorful phone.
Dzsenifer still has a lot of treatments before her and long hospital stays and I hope that her new phone gives her a good and joyful time during the healing process.

We would like to thank the students and teachers of the American International School of Budapest and our private supporters for their help.

Arnold (18 years old, Hódmezővásárhely)

Please read Arnold's own lines about his wish granting:

My name is *** Arnold, and I could realise my dream to travel to Venice with the help of Csodalámpa.

It was like a fairy tale with the typical Venice streets and nice Italian people. The view was amazing and the people at our hotel welcomed us really nicely. The snacks and drinks, the attractions, and being lost a lot of times in the maze of small streets made this journey exciting and wonderful.
Despite the fact that this was my first time in Mestre, I felt myself really comfortable there, like I had been living there for half a year, living my own life with smaller or greater responsibilities. It was almost weird to go sightseeing with a tourist group in the small streets. The moment we stepped into a temple, the sight was wonderful. There wasn’t any empty space on the walls. There were frescos everywhere. The temple was the painter’s canvas.
I was able to gratify my desires about the Italian art and the only word that I could think about was: wow!!

Anett (17 years old, Miskolc)

Another wish was came true, and I am very happy about it as a volunteer because I haven’t seen such a happy kid a long time ago...

Anett is a pretty young woman, and she is in her third year in high school. At a scheduled treatment session we talked about her illness and many other things and also, that she can wish something because of her "magic lamp" illness.
She was endlessly happy and she told us her wish right away. She wanted a laptop.
Her dream was realised pretty fast, to her big surprise.
Her joy was unspeakable which can be seen in the picture. She really needed this computer for her studies and to keep in touch with her friends.

We are very grateful for Csodalámpa and it's supporters.

Many thanks to the students, their teachers and parents at the American International School of Budapest for their support and for the joy of Anett!

Gábor (17 years old, Szinpetri)

Gábor is a very quiet and introvert young man. He had a hard time figuring out what to wish, but finally he managed to make a wish. His sister, Eszter helped him a lot with the wish because her dream was already made true by Csodalámpa’s Genie. Gábor was really looking forward to see if it is possible to fulfill his wish...
Then on a warm summer day, late afternoon we arrived to their house with a big TV. It was a big surprise. Only Gábor’s mother and sister knew the secret, because Eszter found it out from their mom, but she kept it the secret, and didn’t tell her brother about it. The pictures show how happy and surprised was Gábor after getting his new TV. I’m finishing my report with his modest and suggestive words:
„I would like to thank all the Csodalámpa employees and supporters, because exept from my family, I have never got a surprise before.”

It was a big pleasure for me to fulfill this wish and see, how much happiness can Csodalámpa give to a family.

We would like to thank Corinthia Hotel Budapest and its gracious guests for their generousity, attention and selfless help, that made this wish come true.

Regina is a 16 year old girl, who lives with her mother and sister in Bugyi. She goes to school in Budapest and if her illness lets her, she travels lots of hours on public transport to go to her classes.

She also spends a lot of time in the hospital because she is going to have a serious surgery soon.
Her grandmother is usually with her in the hospital, but she misses the rest of her family and her friends.

Her wish was an iPhone smartphone to help her to connect more easily with family and friends.
We were happy to fulfill her wish with the two helpful employees of Cisco, Viktória Beszédes and Katalin Komjáti.

We would like to thank the the Cisco Systems Hungary Ltd.’s running team, participating on the K&H mozdulj! marathon and half marathon competition, who as "Magic bugs" - sportsmen supporting the mission of Csodalámpa - organised a donation campaign which helped us to fulfill Regina’s dream.

Anett was dreaming big when she asked Csodalámpa to help her to get to Wimbledon, where she could see the Swiss tennis player, Roger Féderer’s play in real life.
We turned to Mr. Attila Richter for help because he is the Hungarian Tennis Association's secretary general. He said yes to our request immediately and with a lot of work he was able provide us tickets to very good seats for Anett, Anett’s brother and for our volunteers.

Our two volunteers Laura Kékkúti and Peter Takács who live in London helped Anett and her brother to find the way in the big city.

We would like to thank for the support of the Hungarian National Bank, that of the Hungarian Tennis Association and the help of the students of the CEU Business School for their kind help.

Anett wrote us a kind letter:

When I used to watch tennis matches I wouldn’t think that I am ever going to see such an important match in real life. But with Csodalámpa’s help I had the opportunity to take part in the Wimbledon’s first two days.
We flew to London on the 26th of June with my brother. When we landed, Peti and Laura, our escorts welcommed us.
Next morning we went to Wimbledon. There were a lot of people and everybody was excited about the match. It was a wonderful experience to see the many fields and the tennis players who walked to their courts next to us.
We took our place at the Center Field where the first player was Djokovic, after him Muguruza and finally, Federer. It was an unbelievable feeling to see him and every aspect of the match in real life, not to mention his brilliant "first services".
It is hard to write down how fantastic and unforgettable was the whole mood of the match. The next day we could see Murray’s and Serena Williams’s play which was just the icing on the cake.
I am really thankful for those people who made it possible for me to get such a big and exceptional experience. Thank you for fulfilling my one dream that I had never thought could be made true.

Zsombor Alajos (12 year old, Barcs)

Is it a miracle when two children wish for the exact same thing?

When the „same thing” means that both of them want to go to Disneyland Paris’s? It is not.
This is how it happened, that these two children found themselves on the plane to Paris, which took off at 6:30 am…

Both kids had their mothers with them for the big journey. Lili and her mother came from Kecskemét so they had to wake up really early to get to the airport in time. This was more difficult for Zsombi and his mother because Barcs is even more far away than Kecskemét. But thanks to the Airport Hotel's support, they could spend the night in a really nice hotel.

After the two hour flight we had to get on to a bus, then we arrived to our beautiful hotel. We spent the rest of the day in the Disneyland Park.

The first impression? A fantastic wonderland where you can meet face to face Snow White or even Frozen’s princess... But of course all this in a "smaller edition" an holding their parent’s hands.

The children from the Csodalámpa got impressed by the Park immediately. They couldn’t even decide which game they would like to try next. We tried almost everything in the 3 days we had including the „safer” roller coasters or haunted houses and some more frightening games like a 360-degree turn making roller coaster which just avoids meteorites. All of the games were themed by Disney movies. Of course besides the fun roller coasters, we had other fantastic experiences too. We traveled through Disneyland with a real Wild West styled steam-engine, we saw Sleeping Beauty’s palace, we flew on Alladin’s magic carpet, met and took a photo with „living” cartoon characters and we shooted the enemies with Buzz Lightyear’s laser gun.

We planned for the second night to watch the Disneyland Park’s final show which started at 11pm. It was a fantastic light show with fireworks. Sleeping Beauty’s palace turned into a large screen where cartoons showed us the never ending fight between bad and good…

We spent our last day in the neighboring Walt Disney Studios’s. Stepping out from the Studio No 1, the statue of Walt Disney welcommed us, who created all this for us.
There were a lot of things to try here too. For example we parachuted with the Toy Story’s commandos, we tried to escape from Ratatouille’s cook in 3D and in the size of a rat. We could see here a really interesting stunt show which was exciting and special not only because of the tricks (with cars, motors, and a burning stuntman) but because they told us some secrets about the tricks. But we keep these secrets for ourselves.

And how did the children enjoy the trip? The photos reveal this more than anything...

Dear Csodalampa Foundation,

I would like thank the Foundation and its supporters this journey.
I had a wonderful three days, I tried every attraction I could during this time. I liked most the roller-coasters, and the very best among them the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.
The other attractions were also funny, but I preferred the „extreme” ones.

This was my first flight on an airplane, I enjoyed every minute. The hotel we stayed in was splendid and the food there also.

You gave me and my mum a real experience of a lifetime, we felt ourselves like in a fairytale…

I am so grateful that you granted my wish!

Wishing you all the best form Barcs
