Boglárka (17 years old, Fót)

Just like many other teens, the 17-year old Boglárka wanted to get her driver's license.
So she looked for the driving school nearest to her, and enrolled. Although she enjoyed the classes very much, the final exam presented quite a challenge...

We wish Boglárka good luck to finish the course and hope that soon she will be a proud owner of a driver's license.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Morgan Stanley Hungary for their generous help with making Boglárka's wish come true.

Sarolta (14 years old, Nagykovácsi)

Saci has played the piano for 8 years. After seeing a concert, she thought that she should switch between musical instruments and learn how to play the guitar. After seeing Steve Vai play, she loved the guitar he played on, a JEM Junior WH Steve Vai Model, and she has asked the Csodalámpa Foundation to get her such a guitar.

Well, this wish was not very easy as at that time, there was not a single piece in Hungary of the model Saci requested. A shipment was on its way somewhere between Indonesia and Germany.
We were in close contact with the manager of Mezzoforte Musical Instruments Store, all the more so as Saci could have been called any minute to undergo a serious operation…

After setting a time to meet with Saci’s parents, we arrived to see the young lady with Mr Ben O’Brien, teacher of the American International School of Budapest, on a sunlit Sunday afternoon. The son of Mr O’Brien represented the students of the School.

Saci was not aware of our visit as we agreed with her parents not to tell her anything as we wanted to give her a great surprise...

It went perfectly. After her father called her in, Saci appeared. She had no idea what all the boxes were about in their hallway.

The secret could not be kept for much longer so we helped her unpack the amplifier and the guitar.
Well, it was amazing how it looked and how it sounded! We attached the guitar to the amplifier and after a short check (what all the switches and the vibrato arm were for) Saci demonstrated and performed what she’d learned during her first guitar lessons.

Well done, Saci!

We could go on about how she felt, how we felt, but her wonderful smile tells it to us all:

/ 3

Upon Mr O’Brien’s invitation, Saci promised when her health allowed it, she would come to the American International School (also in Nagykovácsi) to show how far she’d got with her guitar lessons, and she would show her precious guitar she received thanks to the support of the students and their teachers.

We hope the wonderful guitar will help Saci to have a speedy recovery.

We would like to thank the students of AISB: their theatre performance and donations helped Saci’s wish come true. We would also like to thank the manager of Mezzoforte Musical Instruments Store, Mr Károly Csámpai, for his support and contribution to Saci’s happiness.

Renáta (6 years old, Csömör)

Renata is a very kind, genial girl. I visited her in her home with a "small Genie" as help in the name of the Magic Lamp Foundation.

Visiting her and giving her the wished present was rather difficult because she underwent treatments and she came out from the hospital only on 23rd December and she had to go back again between Christmas and New Year’s Eve to the clinic.
So the time went by and january came...

Reni’s wish was a Barbie Doll „with big skirt” and of course with a Barbie-palace. The present was in a big box, Reni unpacked it with great excitement. We took some pictures where it can be seen well, how happy Reni was.

/ 3

Dear Reni! Your wish was the first in 2016, we have fulfilled. We wish You a Happy New Year and a full and fast recovery! Have a lot of joy with your new toy. We wish you and your family all the best for the future in the name of the Magic Lamp.
(The small Genie I mentioned was Bálint Szécsi, my almost 12 years old son who wanted to help me with a wishgranting.)

Many thanks goes to our supporter Ms Annamária Tamás!

Norbert (16 years old, Sárospatak)

Norbi is a kind, 16-year old teenager, a secondary school student. He and his parents were really surprised by our Foundation’s „make a wish” possibility.
Norbi, as many of the other teenagers, is a mobile phone fan, therefore he asked for an LG smartphone that he had wished for a long time.

Norbi’s wish could come true very quickly with the help of a kind supporters.

The family came to the hospital for consultation, and Norbi knew nothing about the big surprise.

I gave him the gift in the consulting-room. Norbi was very happy and examined the new phone with great pleasure. He could hardly wait to use it.

Regina (18 years old, Nyékládháza)

Regina is treated in the GYEK (Pediatric Center) in Miskolc.
We talk about many different subjects all the time. It’s good to talk to her, as she is a nice, intelligent young girl. Regina is interested in everything and she has an opinion about everything. And what is very important: she has a positive attitude to everything.

When I asked her what would she ask from Magic Lamp, after a moment of thinking she firmly said: an IPhone5 white smart phone.
Then she was blushing and added, "if possible"...

Of course it is possible!

Me and Stella, one of the volunteers of the Magic Lamp Foundation from Debrecen, put on mouth masks and entered Regina's room.
The nurses and the doctors were peeking behind us because they also wanted to see Regina's face when she would see the "white magic" in the small box.

It was a great surprise and joy when we knocked at the door of Regina’s hospital ward. Her mother burst into tears of delight and Regina could hardly believe that she got the iPhone as a Christmas present.
All she could utter was "WOW!!" And her face was shining, her eyes were bright with happiness.

Dear Regina,
We wish you a Merry Christmas in the name of all “Magic Lamp” volunteers! You got the IPhone because you deserved it.

We would like to thank the generous support of Xpatloop in the name of Regina too.

On Thursday, 17th December another gift was handed over in the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of the Semmelweiss Medical University in Tűzoltó Street.

Krisztián and his mother came back from the railway station for the present in order to be able to put it under the Christmas tree.

We could hear the Christmas concert in the background from the hall of the hospital, but Krisztián, and new owner of the HP laptop was really surprised...

Armand (12 years old, Bükkszenterzsébet)

Armand is a 13-year old teenager in 7th grade. Nowadays he has to come for medical treatment every other month but he has always been in a bad mood, he doesn't like to come here.
When Armand heard that he could wish for something, he felt better for a short time but he didn’t really believe that his wish would ever come true...

That day Armand thought that only the usual treatment and the injection would come, and he didn’t hope anything better...

Then we entered the room with two large boxes with the expected super Play Station in them.
Armand was very surprised, he could hardly believe that the wonderful gift was his and that his big wish was fulfilled for Christmas!

We would like to thank the generous support of Xpatloop in the name of Armand too.

Bercel (8 year old, Nagykovácsi)

It has been a long time since Bercel (aged 8, lives in Nagykovácsi) wished for a large-size fish tank with goldfish and vegetation in it. His secret desire became a reality in various stages as first, the fish tank needed to find a cozy, sunlit corner in Berci’s home. The five types of goldfish and the plants arrived a few days later. Berci was very excited to see the wonderful team of goldfish.

He enthusiastically helped plant the vegetation, fill up the tank with water and finally, he released the fish. He answered any questions about them with great enthusiasm, showing that he has become an expert in keeping goldfish at home.

His wish was all the more special as it arrived on the same day when, a year ago, Berci and his family learned about his illness. By bravely coping with the difficulties, Berci is now the happy owner of his beloved goldfish.

We would like to thank the students and professors of the American International School of Budapest and the ALLATELEDELNAGYKER.HU webshop for making Berci’s wish come true!

The 16-year old modest, quiet Attila is cured in the GYEK (Pediatric clinic) in Miskolc. He was thinking a lot what to ask from the Magic Lamp, but finally he decided to ask for a smartphone.

His old phone do not have so many features as the Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone, therefore Attila chose that little black phone. He didn’t even believe that his wish would come true, when the Gini of the Magic Lamp gave him the long-awaited phone.

A modest smile and some tears in his shining eyes showed the joy, the surprise and the endless gratefulness of Attila.

Dear Attila, use your new phone with health and happiness!

Krisztián (14 years old, Tiszafüred)

Krisztián is a 14-year old boy and came for a medical check when I had the opportunity to give him the gift on behalf of the Magic Lamp. He desired a phone...

Krisztián was so surprised and his parents were so touched that suddenly none of them could utter a single word. They wouldn’t have thought, thet the wish would be so quickly fulfilled.

Krisztián took the phone in his hands and began to talk about his weekend program, that he would go fishing, he would take his new phone along and he would take pictures. He is looking forward to going to the beach and to shoot underwater photos...

We wish you Krisztián that all your dreams come true, enjoy your phone, and take lots of nice photos!

Kitti (17 years old, Nádudvar)

Kitti has been playing the flute for 10 years, a flute lent her by her school.

Her playing is gorgeous, and it would be even more beautiful, if she could play her own flute... So it was not a big surprise that she asked for a new flute, which could be all hers.

We talked to Ms. Judit Gruger (her teacher) about what would be the perfect kind of flute for Kitti, and in the end, we choose a silver head, closed „Trevor-James Cantabile" flute.
Her teacher also helped us to purchase it. She put us in touch with the Fontrade Music shop. With their kind assistance we could buy the flute easily and quickly.

Then... they say there are no miracles.

Around the time we got Kitti’s wish, we had an incoming email from the popular flutist, Mr. Márk Fülep. He wanted to offer his help and talent to teach the "magic lamp" children to play flute or other instruments.
We took advantage of the opportunity and asked him to be a "surprise" to Kitti, in order to make the wish granting an even more memorable moment for her.

Mr. Fülep was happy to grant our request. He talked to Kitti and her teacher on phone, and they agreed to make a mini-concert together - all this without telling Kitti, that she will get an own flute....

The wish-granting took place at the Corinthia Hotel Budapest's charitable Sunday Brunch. This was reasonable, because Kitti's new flute was sponsored by the donations of hotel’s guests.

After Kitti and her family arrived, Kitti and Mr. Fülep practised a bit in the hotel's splendid ballroom. This was the very first time they have met...

The Sunday Brunch finally started, and about 120 guests came for the event.

On behalf of the Corinthia Hotel Budapest Mr. Imre Turák welcomed the guests and talked about the special relationship of Csodalámpa and the Corintha Hotel. Then he gave the word to Mrs. Eva Patzauer, who introduced the Csodalámpa Foundation with a few sentences.

Then at last the flute was handed over to Kitti...

Kitti couldn’t believe her eyes. She unpacked and put it together with shaking hands. She tried it, and it sounded gorgeous. Although Kitti could hardly utter a word from joy, one could see, that the flute and Kitti are still somehow "strangers" to each other, so on Mr. Fülep’s suggestion, she played the concert with her old flute. Mr. Fülep explained to the audience, why did he suggest this: a musician has to get used to his/her new instrument, and this can take weeks or months.

/ 11

The room had a great acoustic, the concert sounded perfect. Even in the other rooms the guests stopped talking and were listening to the beautiful music.
Kitti was a worthy partner for Mr. Fülep. They played two songs together, and Mr. Fülep played the last one in a solo. The concert was wonderful.

After the concert Mr. Fülep gave his own gifts - sheet music and his CD - to Kitti.

As an extra the hotel’s fantastic band played a song specially for Kitti and they were kind enough to offer their help to Csodalámpa children.

We hope that this flute will bring a lot of wonderful hours to Kitti, and we hope that it helps her to recover fully.

We would like to thank Corinthia Hotel Budapest and its gracious guests for their generousity, attention and selfless help, the Fontrade Music shop’s support, that made this wish come true.

Many thanks goes to Mr. Márk Fülep and to Ms. Judit Gruger for their help and assistance that was instumental to Kitti’s happiness.

Ramóna (10 years old, Kisvarsány)

Ramona has been fighting against illness since the age of six. She asked for a pink laptop from the Magic Lamp, because pink is her favorite color. I often met her and her mother in the hospital, and Ramona always asked me, whether there were any news about the laptop, when it would arrive...

Today she came for a check again, but that time I could make her happy with the long-awaited gift. She was so excited, suddenly she didn’t know what to do, where to sit down. She could hardly believe that the gift arrived. While she was opening the box, she was telling: ”Please be pink, be pink” – and it pink it was!

The little girl was admiring the present for a few minutes, then she packed it back because the ambulance arrived to take her home.

Get well and play a lot with the new computer!

Many thanks for the support of the students and teachers of the American International School of Budapest!

Alex Gábor (4 years old, Budapest)

There may be a handful of Mercedes G-Class AMG owners in Hungary, but for sure none of them have ever driven their SUV between the tables in Peppers Mediterranean Grill at Budapest Marriott Hotel. Except for Alex...

It all started with him asking Magic Lamp for an electric Mercedes G class toy car. Our long-time supporters Fundamenta Személyi Bankár and Budapest Marriott Hotel had to pool their resources to make this dream come true.

Alex received his gift during Magic Lamp's special charity 'Wish-kitchen' event, where the participants learn to prepare gourmet and simple everyday dishes from the best chefs in town. Hosted by Marriott Hotel, the invitees included the managers and other supporters workin for Fundamenta-Lakáskassza.

At first, Alex was somewhat taken aback, as he was not used to mingling in such a crowd and in such a setting. When the brand new car rolled in - yet remotely controlled - he remained "reserved". What happens now?!?

A few minutes had passed before Alex summoned the courage to step out from behind his father. He climbed into the toy car and listened attentively to the hotel's General Manager, Mr Rick Enders. who showed him how the G55 works. Then Alex stepped on the accelerator and off he went... only to bump into a table leg a minute into his maiden cruise. Luckily, no damage was done.

/ 6

Then, aided by his father and Mr Enders, the already cheerful and relaxed Alex drove a few laps around the tables as the 'Wish-Kitchen' programme got underway and the crowd disappeared.

At the close of the event, Alex carefully pocketed the car's keys and was all smiles as he said good-bye to his hosts.

Dear Alex, let us wish you a safe and fun ride and a speedy recovery!

We would like to thank the management and staff of Fundamenta Személyi Bankár and Fundamenta-Lakáskassza Zrt. for their decades-long support. The management and staff of Budapest Marriott Hotel have been instrumental in the success of Magic Lamp's charity 'Wish-kitchen' events and in fulfilling Alex's wish.

Olivér (6 years old, Gellénháza)

Oliver has asked for an X BOX 360 and a car-racing game from Csodalámpa Foundation.

We arrived at the hospital at the end of his treatment so Oliver was able to move around freely in the hallways. He did not know about our visit so it was a total surprise that we were there to give him the gift box. He started to open the package with great anticipation…

When Oliver saw the X BOX package, he started jumping thus expressing his joy and excitement. Other young patients in the hospital came to see about the sounds of joy they could hear. Oliver took out the gift of its box and he wrapped his arms around it.

"This will be my best toy and tomorrow, I will play with it the whole day" – said Oliver with a huge smile. We were talking for a long time and we learned that he bravely endured the treatments while always smiling and happy.
Later, he called his grandmother and he told her what an amazing, great gift he had received that day from the Csodalámpa Foundation.

It was truly great to see Oliver receiving his present with childlike joy.

We and Oliver would like to thank the lovely "Magic bugs" of PwC for their support!

Áron is a real sportsman, he does several sports as climbing but high cliffs were also conquered by him.

Nowadays, due to his illness he can not do sports regularly, and he also has to learn the school material as a private student. Therefore Áron asked for an Ipad Airs from the Magic Lamp Foundation, which can help him to get to know a lot of information and he can also keep in touch with his friends and school mates.

We were welcomed on the terrace of the hotel by Szilvia Németh and Ádám Honvéd, representatives of the Hilton Budapest City. While we were talking, Áron installed the machine confidently and we, the adults just wondered what a smart device it was. Time passed quickly and the teenage boy became very tired, so we said goodbye to him and let him go home to use his new Ipad conveniently at home.

Noémi (15 years old, Olasztelek-)

Our flight departed early Monday morning to take us to the place of our dreams: Rome.
After the pleasant flight we excitedly boarded the bus that took us to our hotel.

We were very pleased with the hotel, we had a beautiful room with a view of the swimming pool.

Our first day was fantastic. We visited many beautiful old buildings of the city, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the Piazza Navona. The next day brought even more wonderful experiences. We saw the Colosseum, the Castle of the Holy Angel, and enjoyed a delicious dessert. On Wednesday we took the subway and a bus to go to Zoomarine, where the dolphins were waiting for us. As soon as we arrived, we were told all the important information about the dolphins. Then we had our picture taken with one of them and got them perform a trick for us. I chose Marco for my photo.

/ 5

Meeting these fantastic animals will remain a lifelong experience for me. We stayed at Zoomarine until late afternoon, so we had plenty of time to watch a dolphin show, see the penguins, seals, and try the many water slides. On Thursday we visited the Vatican Museums, the Saint Peter's Basilica, and the Sistine Chapel. After all these we still had time in the afternoon to do some shopping and try the real Italian pizza. On our last day we managed to squeeze in a little swimming in the pool of the hotel, then headed to the airport. When we got back home, we were sad to say good bye to each other, but we will always remember the beautiful experiences we shared.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Mr. Vilmos Benkő, our guide and chaperon on the trip for catering to our every whim and making this trip unforgettable for us. I would also like to thank the Magic Lamp Foundation for their tireless efforts, organizing this trip, and making our wish come true.

With love,

Noémi

We would also like to thank the National Bank of Hungary, to Mr. Attila Ságodi from KPMG, and to Mr. Rick Enders, CEO of Budapest Marriott Hotel for their help in making Noémi's wish come true.

We met our fellow-passengers and our attendants in the early hours on August 10, 2015. We quickly talked throgh, what we would like to see in Rome.

Right after we landed, we went to the elegant Mariott Park Hotel. We were amazed by the hotel’s swimming pool and georgeous restaurant. And we admired our room, which contained two bathrooms...

Before we started discovering the city, we had a pizza for lunch in a real Italian restaurant.
It is almost unbelievable that we saw so many sights just on the first day. We saw the Spanish steps, the Trevi fountain, and the Angels bridge.

And of course, we had a lot to see on the other days as well. The Colosseum, the Vatican and the Saint Peter’s Basilica.

/ 6

One of the best experiences was the zoo and the aquapark, which were in the city’s neighborhood. We saw the dolphin show, we fed the animals, and we tried the water slides too.

On the last day before noon, we just relaxed in the pool.

We got home pleasantly tired and with lots of unforgettable experiences.

Thank to the supporters and to Vilmos Benkő volunteer for this extraordinary trip.
