Kálmán (13 years old, Budapest)
Wonderlamp was again shining bright on Mikulás (St Nicholas) day.
On this day Kálmán had to return to the Tűzolto Street II. Pediatric Clinic of the Semmelweiss University for his next treatment. However, he had no idea that beside the painful treatment a joyful surprise was waiting for him.
Kálmán had wished for a PSP. The students of American International School of Budapest offered to help and organized the "Walk-the-Wish" event that raised the money for the PSP, among other wishes.
Kálmán received his gift with a big smile on his face, and with some help started to play with it right away.
We would like to thank the students and teachers of the American International School of Budapest for their generosity.

A few days later we got this e-mail from Kálmán:
We would like you thank you very much for the PSP. Kálmi had been waiting for it so excitedly. He plays with it all the time, in fact he hardly ever puts it down. Could you please pass on our heartfelt thanks to the American School in Nagykovácsi? We regretfully were not able to meet them.
We wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy and peaceful New Year!

Márton (15 years old, Veszprém)
Marci was very exiting when he was waiting for us. He thought we would speak about his wish.
When it turned out we won’t speak about his wish but he is the happy owner of a XBOX he was so glad he hardly could open the parcel. The play was installed in a short time and he could play.
He received a basketball game, too, which was the part of our gift.
We could realize again one of our ill kids’ dreams.

Gábor (9 years old, Hódmezővásárhely )
We have learnt about the wish of our small hero Gábor this autumn: he wished to get Star Wars LEGO.
His twin brother Péter and Gábor are real LEGO masters by their parents’ opinion. They like to build different LEGO-objects and they already have a lot of similar toys. When they begin to plan what to build and how, the world ceases to exist around them...
Gábor’s dream was realized with the help of the students of the American International School of Budapest.
All the students and teachers of the school were waiting for this day, not only because of Gábor’s wish but there was an extraordanary students’ meeting where the professors said thanks to the students who took part in the „Walk-The-Wish”.
We showed in a short presentation which wishes have been granted since the last „Walk The Wish”. With their help Virág has been to London, Zsolt has received a camera, Robert has got a PSP, Sandor has got a laptop.
/ 12
We told Gábor that the students had wanted to meet him personally and they waited him with some present. He listened to their reports patiently, watched the film about the walk. The students and their teachers even composed and sung a special song for Gábor:
Walk it now with me.
Walk the wish for children.
Walk it now with me.
If you walk the wish for children-
and treat them lovingly,
Then those children all will have a better day.
Take a step for children.
Take it now with me.
Take a step for children.
Take it now with me.
If you take a step for children-
and treat them lovingly,
Then those children all will have a better day.
After watching the film Gábor had to go to the stage and the wished toy was given him. He was so surprised that at first he could say nothing, but then he bowed to the chering crowd and just said "thank you".
The real surprise came some minutes later.
The older students waited for Gábor and Péter with a cake forming a big LEGO structure as they celebrated their 10th birthday on that day. The cake was made by the wife of one of the teachers. It was a real masterpiece. It weighed 10 kilogramms as the boys became 10 years old. Of course Happy Birthday was sung in Hungarian and English languages, too.
Gábor reacted with a joke: "When I will be 20 years old I shall get a cake weighing 20 kilogramms."
We hope this day and the gift will remain unforgettable for Gábor and they will help Gábor during his difficult times still to come.
We wish you Gábor a fast recovery!

Mátyás (12 years old, Sümeg)
Matyi is the resident of the half-sterile room of the Szent László Hospital many months since. He is interested in everything which is in connection with computers, sound-technique. He would like to be a sound-engineer therefore it is not surprising that his desire was a console.
We made his surprise together with the donating company’s one colleague.
He was looking amazed with his eyes wide open when I appeared with a person who was a foreigner to him at the door of his room. He could only understand what is happening when found in two huge boxes from a pouch. One of them included the mixer, the second one included the crossover.
Matyi was almost speechless the amazing surprise crush. He was only smiling and could say only: „wow”. His gaiety was only increasing as he was opening his present. After unwrapping it he assembled it immediately. Meanwhile he was telling to us what, where, why…, we did not understand a word from the whole…
After a while Matyi’s favourite singer – made the room disco atmosphere – rang through the speakers.
I think Matyi won’t be bored for a minute then, during the long weeks of his recovery and I hope that soon the rooms’ windows of his home will tremble from the songs of Lady Gaga.

Virág (15 years old, Győr-Újfalu)
Virág and Vivien had been longed for London for a long time.
Shooting of Virág’s favourite film „Sweney of Todd” was taken place in Fleet Street and of course Virág asked us to go there by all means. We knew that most of the sceneries had been already demolished but we also knew that the barber’s shop next to the church should be still there. Certainly we also got there during our sightseeing tour although the shop window of FED-EX could be found in the place of the barber’s shop and unfortunately Johnny Depp wasn’t waiting for us, either :-). After all the experience was the same as Virág’s face brightened when she saw it.
Vivien was also thinking a lot about what to ask for from us but finally she chose London because she was curious to know what the beloved metropolis was like.
We visited a lot of interesting places during the few days we spent there.
We went to Piccadily Circus, we admired the fountains and statues of Trafalgar Square, the Monument of Nelson as well as the National Museum. We were walking in the St. James’ Park as we called it „Park of squirrels” since lots of squirrels were running around us and they were so tame that they could eat from our hands. We watched the Changing of the guards in front of the Buckingham Palace, admired the Westminster Abbey and we were waiting for quite a long time to hear the bells of Big Ben.
Certainly we couldn’t miss visiting Madame Tusseaud’s, as we had to greet the girls’ favourite actors and pop singers. We were also attracted by London Zoo, where we could have a rest after the several hours visit in the museum of the wax figures. We liked the seahorses, the butterflies, the meerkats, the gentle giraffes, the feisty cats and the tigers the most.
Of course Tower couldn’t be missed either. We felt frightened as we entered but I gave my words to Virág and Vivien that I would save them from the „torture tools” even at the expense of my live. We passed by those quickly for safety sake and we spent much more time at the royal jewelry (Anyway, women had been interested in jewelry for centuries. )
We went to several restaurants but the girls liked Rainforest Café the best. There we could hardly understand each other because of the big noise but it was compensated by the fact that we were surrounded by a real rain forest where trumpeting of the elephants and screaming of the monkeys were part of the menu.
We were sailing on the River Thames so that the other face of London could be also seen. We were listening to the musicians of Covent Garden, in brief we enjoyed ourselves.
/ 6
It is difficult to summarize the story of a couple of days. When I asked them what they liked the best, they answered „London Eye”, since from there almost everything could be seen.
And what was our biggest experience? It is difficult to say. Perhaps the fact that the girls could get to this metropolis that welcomed us with open arms and despite of the weather forecast it was warm and it wasn’t raining. Everyone was very kind to us. We went to theater as well, where we saw a fantastic performance, Mamma Mia.
And what caused the most lasting memories for me, for the grandmother of Virág and the father of Vivien? The answer is: to see the faces of the girls, to hear their laughter during the tour and the fact that all of this couldn’t be realized without the support of our sponsors who helped us again – as many other times before – to make a wonder from the distance.

My wish was to see a Real Madrid match live and it has come true!!!
I could watch a match live between Real Madrid and AC Milan, it was the League of Champions!!! It was on 19.10 in Madrid
My mother came with me to Madrid but two kind people Mr. Balogh Ákos and his brother Mr. Balogh Zsolt were there, as well. Tell the true, I am very grateful them because they realized the greatest dream of my life. They promised me at the airport on Monday morning to go to watch the famous Santiago Bernabeu Stadion that day. We met Mr. Vincze Otto who came with us to the training of AC Milan. Later we went to have dinner and went to bed
We went to the city next day to see the Spanish Royal Palace. We admired this beautiful building. After visiting the Palace I went to do some shopping with my mother. She is great in shopping, so I became soon tired and we returned to the hotel. I went to the match in the previous day bought scarf and cap with Ákos and Zsolt. The match was great! I have been a fan of Real Madrid since 8 years. They scored two goals. Later the match was not so exciting but I enjoyed it.. After the football match we returned to the hotel.
We went for a walk to the City on the third day morning. Then we packed our luggage and went to the airport. We were at home within some hours. It was a little difficult for me to say good-bye to Ákos and Zsolt because I loved them during this short time.
Thank you Balogh brothers and of course Magic Lamp to organize me this unforgettable journey.

Normann ( 6 year old, Penyige )
Normann’s wish was a visit to the ’Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden’ and the ’Budapest Amusement Park’.
We luckily chose a day of October, - there was no rain – it was an ideal choice for the fulfilment of the wish. Normann was interested in the ’funhouse’ and the ’ghost - rail’, so naturally we began the whole day with it.
We – adults - found the ’ghost – rail’ a bit formidable but Normann as a real big boy raced through and he wasn’t afraid. Then we have listened to the legend of Sir John on the fabulous small railway, he was travelling on a carousel-chariot. We have visited the ’funny jungle’, we were travelling by a ’tale-boat’ and at the end of our visit we have seen the Budapest View from the ’big wheel’.
The lack of time had to hurry to the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden where Normann has gone with his parents, but they told us about that day that they enjoyed it a lot, too and Normann was feeding a stork, too.
We are very pleased that we succeeded to spend a pleasant day with Normann and his family, we ’the Csodalámpa Foundation-girls’ all enjoyed this small trip, too a lot.
We wish you Normann a very good health and to remember for this nice day for a long.

Rajmund (10 years old, Gönyű)
I have been a voluntary for some weeks and I hardly waited for my first present giving to an ill kid. Some days ago Misi - one of our wish- coordinators in Győr - rang me up and said there was an ill boy called Rajmund in Gönyű who would received his wished present on 22nd September.
After work we went by car to Gönyű with the present with a inflatable electric rubber boat. We met the mayor a journalist and a press photographer in front of the city hall. We got together to the 10-year-old Rajmund’s house.
Rajmund was very surprised at seeing this lot of people. We informed him why we came. Rajmund was a little bit tired of learning but he was happy when he saw the boat in the yard. When the boat was put together he became deeply touched. A lot of photos were taken. We were talking to his mother and his sister called Lolita while the journalist was making an interview with the father.
I was informed Rajmund is a private student at school and he is very clever.

We wish you dear Rajmund a lot of strength to your operation and hold on!!! Have nice time in your boat!!!
P.S.: It was a good feeling for me to give presents to somebody and I hope I often will take part in present giving in the future.

József (13 years old, Zalakaros)
On a sad March day I was lying in the Tűzoltó street children’s hospital. I just had been through a brain surgery, 35 treatments of radiation therapy, and the resulting discomfort.
I was just trying to overcome my nausea, caused by chemotherapy, with the help of Dr. Garami, Dr. Hauser, and the all the nice nurses, when an older lady sat down beside my bed.
She told me about the Csodalámpa (Wonderlamp) Foundation that was brought to life by Eva Patzauer, with the purpose of granting special wishes. Wishes of children who are fighting for their recovery, and who have to undergo many unpleasant but necessary treatments. To make these wishes come true demands lots of joint effort and organization from the members of the foundation.
So it happened that I could make a wish.
I “rubbed the lamp” and was pronouncing my long-time secret wish: to meet the adventurer Bear Grylls, host of Born Survivor on the Discovery Channel.
Without my knowing a group of volunteers with the guidance of Éva started making phone calls, sending out e-mails, until one day in mid-September I found out that my dream was going to come true, and I was going to meet Bear in London.
From the plane tickets to the hotel everything was organized for us. At the airport I met Andrea Molnar, a volunteer of the the foundation, who was our escort and guide for the time we spent in London.
London was wonderful, and fascinating. But I could only think of my upcoming meeting with Bear Grylls. We had to be at the Holy Trinity Brompton Church at 7 PM on September 22nd where Bear was invited to talk about his life and his faith.
When we got there two of the organizers, Keira and Alice were waiting for us at the entrance. From that moment time sped up. We were escorted into a big tent and offered food and drinks, but I was unable to eat even a bite. Only this time it was not the chemo, but my excitement that spoiled my appetite.
A journalist arrived who asked me to tell her my story. Then I was led into the church, where pictures were taken. People started arriving and my excitement rose even higher. Then I was led into a room, where Bear was already waiting for me.
I almost started crying from happiness, but I did not come here to cry, right? He hugged me and asked me many questions. Then he gave me his signed book, a few pictures, and many more hugs.
I also gave him some presents: a bottle of walnut pálinka, a real Hungarian “survivor drink”, and a little movie on DVD that I had made for him about myself. The title of this movie “I won’t give up”, because I know that this is the only way to get better, as I had learnt it from Bear’s adventurous life.
Then we had our pictures taken, he hugged me again, and told me that my strength gives him strength as well.
At the end of our meeting he promised me that after his talk he was going to give me his shirt that had been especially made for him. He said that the only reason he could not do it right away was that he could not do his speech without his shirt!
After our meeting I watched his interview with the reverend from the first row, seated amongst Bear’s wife and friends. Afterwards he came up to me and gave me a final hug.
And he really gave me his shirt, with “Jozsef the Hero” written on its back. We said our goodbyes, and I left floating two meters above the ground.
/ 8
My wish came through and this experience has given me lots of ammunitions that I can use on my road to recovery if I need something to cheer me up. I would like to thank Eva Patzauer, Andrea Molnar, all the Csodalámpa volunteers and sponsors for their help.
I have two advices for all the kids and especially for those at the Tűzoltó street Pediatric Clinic:
- Rub the magic lamp because it works!
- Never give up!

Kristóf (6 years old, Üllő)
Thomas is one of Kristóf’s favourite toys, so it gave him much pleasure to see real engines at the traction site of the Children’s Railway.
We were received by the head of the railway who was very patient and helpful. He told us lots of interesting stories from the history of railway engines and cars and about their maintenance. However, Kristóf was rather interested in the scenery and driving the engine. He also received some gifts; a flag, a calendar, etc., all that would remind him of railway and of this particular day.
Next we boarded a train with children in charge of many tasks and rode to the János Mountain. We had a walk there and switched to the Chairlift that was also quite something for Kristóf and he enjoyed it indeed. After some walk and riding the train again we returned to our start and I called the day by handing over to Kristóf his other, transport-related toy favourite: a Duplo set or Cars.
He squeezed them tight and was filled with joy as they took off home after this day that gave him so much pleasure.

Despite the fact that not only Visegrád but the whole country was suffering from the flood, we were on a time-travel on that bright early summer day.
The wish was fulfilled at a bikers’ reunion, and those couple of hours were just about Tina. Venue was the Salamon Tower of Visegrád, with Tina as queen of the Castle in a gorgeous saddle. A tournament ensued by a feast was crowned by a ride on a Harley. No one would have been able to paint anything more beautiful and heart-warming.
But instead of further details, let me quote a couple of lines from the letter of the sponsor, Mr György Kreskai:
"I have been thinking since whether it was us who fulfilled Tina’s wish or perhaps she did ours, giving us the opportunity to become a better man and getting right our values derailed in the everyday rat-race."

Vivien (17 years old, Makó)
Vivien is very interested in fashion, and loves everything that is connected to fashion. She always had been dreaming about going to the fashion capital of the world, Paris, and fill her lungs with its chic air. Finally, this year her dream has come true.
During our three-day trip we not only managed to see all the major sights of the city, but also had time to visit the famous department stores, and admire the beautiful shop windows.
Since getting around with a wheelchair was an unexpectedly arduous task, we had no choice but to set out on foot to discover the city. We marvelled at the Eiffel Tower, and the Arch de Triomphe, and let the crowd carry us down the Avenue des Champs- Élysées. We discovered several delightful tiny cafes and restaurants. Our cruise on the Seine was simply unforgettable; every minute we passed yet another beautiful sight, while relaxing comfortably on the boat.
On the second day we took a train to Versailles. We wandered around the beautifully maintained garden of the palace completely spell-bound. This feeling of amazement returned in the afternoon, when we arrived to the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Afterward, however, the time had come to satisfy or passion for fashion, so we went shopping! We happily browsed the wonderful shops, and of course could not resist visiting Louis Vuitton's amazing multi-storey flagship store.
The next day brought new experiences. We toured the Louvre Museum. We especially liked the Manet exhibition at the Musée d' Orsay. In the evening we returned to the Champs-Élyées and the Arc de Triomphe one last time to say good-bye.
We hope though, that this farewell was not final, and Vivi will return in the future.

It was dubious until the last day if we can surprise Adrian with the video camera he wished for. The weather was really nice and the doctors allowed him to be outdoor for some hours on the Axa Family Day.
When we met he was quite tired but he immediately told us that he really liked the organisers’ red t-shirt. His wish came true and not just he got the shirt but Liza, his friend from the hospital, as well.
The moderator of the day invited Adrian to the stage where he asked the boy what his wish was and what he would like to use it for. After some minutes he had the blue Panasonic camera in his hands.
We wish Adrian to use the camera for a long time and make interesting movies with it.

Instead of the inherited old dark heavy furniture she dreamed of new snow white ones with a comfortable and huge bed.
