Márton (11 years old, Miskolc)
Marci is 11 years old today. He came out of the sterile transplantation box 4 weeks ago. His dream was to fly on his birthday.
We started to organise it immediately, but we have very limited time. On that morning it was heavily raining in Miskolc, but our God and voluntary chaplain and was with us…
By 4 pm our Csodalampa team from Miskolc was there dressed in the Csodalampa shirt. We brought a book about flying, a cake, firework and number 11. We were waiting for Marci and his Dad. They arrived but Marci still did not realise that he will fly.
/ 8
They took off and we waved to them.
The plane flew towards the hospital where Marci were. On the balcony nurses waved to Marci who was driving the plane alone.
They flew towards Marci’s house and his Mom, sister and brothers waved at him. When they got back to the airport Marci received the cake and the book and also a birthday singing.
He was really touched and he could hardly say:
- Thank you!
But in this single word and in his sparkling eyes there was everything we needed to know how he felt. :))
Ps. These moments make worth for working to Csodalámpa!
Dániel (16 years old, Budapest)
The dream of an adolescent boy
It happened like that, Dani who has already tried some sports but swimming has dropped out of his life up till now.
And then suddenly he gets swimming lessons from an excellent coach in the swimming pool.
The boy who’s up till now just till ankle ventured to go into the water enjoys this kind of movement. It didn’t show that he missed some lessons because of summer holiday.
It was good to see this pair, coach and pupil, among jumping and dabbling children around them. The devoted training of aunt Eszter and Dani’s application can be exemplary for a lot of us.
We’ll never forget that smile when the coach lauded Dani at the end of the movement-rows.
Dear Dani, we wish you a lot of power and insistence to full recovery and we also wish all of your dreams come true!

Roxána (8, from Ózd, Hungary)
It was Roxana's old dream, which came true by Csodalámpa in the past day. We gave her the laptop she wished in the Children's Hospital in Miskolc.
We received Roxana's wish though the Internet, she placed it on our website with the help of her mother. She'd never hoped that it would take such a short time to our foundation to make her wish come true.
She looked us with real enthusiasm in her eyes while the box was handed over to her and when she took out the laptop from it she screamed: My wish came true! So soon! I wouldn't have believed it!
Roxana spends lots of time in the hospital that's why she thought such equipment would help her to kill time.
She told us that from next year on she will have IT lessons in the school and she will be able to practise for the lessons as all her classmates who has a PC at home.
We hope this computer will give lots of happy moments to Roxana and we wish all the best to her.

Bence (11 years old, Ózd)
Thank you for the wonderful 3 days I could spend with you in the Zoo, Fun Park, and Tropicarium and in Aquarius Hotel.
When we arrived to the Hotel everybody was very kind and even got a surprise in the room full of fruits and cookies. There was a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi and they kept asking me every time I went to the hall if I need anything.
On the first day we went right into Tropicarium. It was unforgettable to see those animals so close, it was a good fun, we did not realise how quick time went on.Back to the Hotel we went to the Jacuzzi!
The second day was full of surprises, I knew we were going to the Zoo, but what happened there I could hardly believe! Besides that every animal were beautiful, I became the stepfather of two leopards. It was a great surprise because I love cats! I got a certificate and a short description of the two leopards about their birth place, name etc…I would even have to go to a school meting.
When we finished in the Zoo I thought we go back to the Hotel, but uncle Sanyi told me there is more to go and what if we go to the Fun Park. I was delighted! I tried everything which suited my age but I like the roller coaster the most! Evening time we went back to the Hotel where we were offered a three course dinner. This was offered by the Hotel together with the breakfast.
On the third morning I was sad to say good-by to auntie Kriszta the director of the Hotel, we had to leave before 11 am. We were on the way home, when suddenly we stopped by the McDonalds front of Campona. I did not know about this either! I was allowed to go to the kitchen and prepare two cheeseburgers. We had lunch and went home.
Really, really thank you for Csodalámpa Foundation to made my wish come true and even beyond that…I will never forget this!

Zsolt (13 years old, Városlőd)
I met Zsolt first in the Clinic in Bokay Street. This 13 year-old boy was sitting front of a big bowl of cherry and nibbled it.
After my introduction of Csodalampa Foundation his eyes were kindled and asked if he could wish for anything…Next time I saw her he wanted to fly in a balloon. And then things started to get a shape. A gentleman came to us and on behalf of his company he gave help to make this dream come true.
To fly with a balloon depends on many things: Budapest Airport should give permission, there has to be a good wind; so we chose several dates for the possible travel. First time when everything came together, Zsolt got ill and went to the hospital.
For the second time Zsolti was still in the hospital, but because he was ok on the 7th of August with a medical attendance we went to Lake Velence to take off.
As a surprise ha had a bath in the Lake; got some ice-cream, chips and sandwich; then he even ride on a horse. He enjoyed it very much, only if dogs were not there…
After horse riding we met the organiser at a nearby petrol station and went together to the landing place. In here they blow up the balloon and it was time to go. Zsolt and his Mom and Doctor Sallay were on the balloon as well. Zsolti was not afraid at all, he was bit tired in the end.
On the way home Zsolti was listing the things he enjoyed the most many times.
In this way he could face the operation a bit easier next day. At that time we did not know that Zsolt will have kidney transplantation soon. The operation went well and Zsolti is in a good condition.
We wish you to get better!

Béla (10 years old, Balatonföldvár)
We entered to the hospital room with a big smack of Indi’s superb whip.
Béla was surprised when he got the whip for first… the Lego of Indiana Jones was in such a big box he could hardly hold it when we put it on his bed…
He started to look at the photos, and only because of our encouragement he finally opened the boxes. We were all very excited to know what is inside the box. The precious gifts were unrevealed one by one, putting together a film set altogether (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) – very exciting!
There was a book and a set of card as well included, and Béla opened the book and flicked through the card with big amusement.
Her Mom said that Lego is one of his favourite, he collects them and this piece was missing.
The next coming days’ treatments will be a bit easier to take…

During her stay in the hospital Martina always zapped between the channels until she found a film about the nature and the life of the oceans.
This gave her the idea to pick up shells on a beautiful seaside.
Thanks to the Csodalámpa Alapítvány Martinas dream came true and she could visit Corfu with here family.
She could collect shells and stones from the beautiful Ion sea.
Her medical state allowed her to swim in the water. She returned from the world of the sea full with adventures, sun tented and with a huge smile on her face.
We would like to express our thanks to Csodalámpa Alapítvány for this unique week we spent on Corfu.

The great football fan Levente’s wish was a real wooden table soccer. He was going home with his parents, when suddenly they decided to have a coffee.
In the pastry shop there was a big football shaped cake and a big box waiting for Levente.
Levi has got two brothers, so they will have lots of fun with the soccer. After 5 months spent in the hospital, they are together again, and they can play with it any time.
After the transplantation Levente is not allowed to go to public places, that is why it is important that table soccer will provide entertainment for him.

Dávid (14, Érsekvadkert)
In Hungarian we use frequently the phrase: I don't find words or I don't find my words to how great our surprise is.
That was the right phrase to use in case of David who came to visit us, the Csodalámpa Alapítvány- on his wheelchair to receive his new computer.
He was so surprised and happy about his new computer that we could not hear his voice.
Finally we could get know that he likes the computer games and he knows all of them which can be played on the computer. These games give him a chance to kill time. His recent computer was too old and he could not play on it anymore. That was the reason why he asked a new from us.
In our office Dávid decided that in the future he is only going to win, and not only with the games...

Szabina (17 years old, Szolnok)
The real miracle!
Szabina’s wish was to spend a weekend in a wellness hotel with her family. The wish came true in the middle of June by the help of Szalajka Liget Hotel in Szilvásvárad.
How interesting what we do. Our primary objective is making the children forget their illness. It happened like this also now…
On Saturday at noon I went out to the hotel. I met a very smiling little girl who without any shamefacedness promptly started talking about her experiences and she was just talking and talking.
Szabina was always relieved of physical education but now she was riding a bicycle and playing squash. She didn’t seem to be ill. I didn’t spend too much time with her, I saw she was extremely happy and I let her do what she wants.
We said goodbye…
They went walking and I was watching them. I had that good feeling again when a dream comes true and a smile stays with us.
I fell back into weekdays and I started to organize the process of new wish fulfilling like it wouldn’t have been such a big pleasure to me like to Szabina. Days were passing and on Friday my telephone rang.
It was Szabina’s mother…
She was crying, I barely understood her words… I cannot explain what I felt, when we don’t know if it’s a dream or everything happens while we’re awake.
Then I started to understand her words. The first thing I managed to understand was the following thing:
- We’re at the intensive department.
- What happened? – I asked her quaveringly.
- They gave us a call on Tuesday and they said we had to come into the hospital. – Szabina’s mother continued.
- And???
- Szabina had an operation, a donor was found!
- Oh, it’s fantastic! How is she?
- She’s already awake, everything’s all right, we talked to the doctors, it’s them who said that everything’s all right!
We were talking on and we made an arrangement that we’d celebrate it.
But during this conversation my thoughts were somewhere else. I thought of Szabina, her little sincere smile. Her smile will always be sincere from now on because some other kind of sparkling will be in her eyes. From now on she doesn’t have to feel herself different from the others and nobody will have to worry about her just as much as it’s regular. It was an unbelievable feeling. I could have shouted, I wanted to tell it everybody. It came into my mind that a real miracle happened. A small but very important miracle, yes, it’s very important … we’ve got it!
Johanna Dóra (9 years old from Takácsi)
Johanna wished to get a trumpet.
As we found out she has been learning to play for a year now.
There was no doubt that our task was to make this peculiar wish come true. After getting know what kind of trumpet she wishes to get we found some helping hand. The students of the American school wanted to make a surprise to Johanna with this super instrument. They gave a little concert for Johanna on 2nd of June at the year closing ceremony.
Johanna was so surprise that she found no words. She received a small bouquet with the instrument.

She said thanks in quite and sat down. As the ceremony ended she opened her present and took it into her hands. For our biggest happiness she started to play on it.
We asked her whether she would visit the American school with us next year to play music, she said yes without hesitation.
We wish that this meeting would come true next year!
We would like to say thanks to the students of the American School to help us making magic.

23.05.2008
In the very early morning when even the birds are sleeping we were already at the airport.
We met with Balázs and Lilla, checked in and said goodbye to the boys (Father and Balázs). Lilla and me already experienced flying with a plane however it was the first time for my mother, so she felt quite sick, she didní1t even eat, although the food was really delicious.
After a two hour flight we arrived to Paris. We had to travel to another airport. We missed the bus which came every half an hour so when we arrived to the airport we were already late for the check in, but thanks to Lilla who spoke with the French they let us on the plane.
When we woke up we saw the sea under us. It was wonderful! When we get off a pack of palm trees and Chantall were waiting for us. We get in her car and she took us to our hotel for that day.
Before we got used to our new place we went on to the St. Paul church, where a lot of people already waited for us with cameras. After the interviews and pictures we were finally able to get inside to see the altar.
The mass was really different than what we see in Hungary. The priests, the alter-servers, and even the people were more direct. The altar was much closer to the audience, the inner place was not that monumental, but we felt more closer to God like this. In the church there were a cross which they brought back from the bones and artifacts of St. Philomena a while ago. This is the biggest relic of the church which is on the altar for the whole mass, and after it all the believers can kiss it. The people of Perpignan pray for this cross, and through this to St.Philomena.
I was the first pilgrim here, which was a really great honor for me.
The first room of our first night was a bit smoky, so within 5 minutes we changed a whole floor to reach our new rooms.
After the switching of rooms we were invited to a dinner by the Femmes Internationales Murs Brisés. There we got to know a lot of kind people.
At half past ten, for our request they took us to the sea side.
Ours was the only footprint on the shore till the great waves of the sea. This was my first time seeing the sea. We were running in the sand like small kids with Lilla towards the shores and the only thing that stopped us was the fact that Lilla fell over while running. :)
We trod on the waves for a while, we draw pictures in the sand, but after a while Mother became impatient and we had to leave, but I really would like to see the dawn here...
24.05. 2008.
On Saturday morning we started out with an empty stomach.
After 5 hours of travel between mountains, forests and water we finally arrived to Lourdes. Jérome and Magali brought the bigger bags with car after us. When we meet at the station in Lourdes they took us to our lodgement which looked like a sanatorium or a hospital, but it was visited by none other than Pope Jean-Paul 2nd in 2003. This was the closest place to the shrine.
In the city there was a Military Meeting too. Those units participated here who has to go to war soon however desires peace. We meet with Hungarian soldiers too who went through the Cross's Way, with a big cross on their back in respect for Jesus.
After a few minutes wait in a queue we were able to drink from the healing water thanks to the approximately 30 taps and the patience of the people there. After this we lighted a candle for those loved people in the family who has also some kind of illness. Later we discovered the other parts of the shrine and went to see some bazaars.
At night we had dinner with the Spanish delegation and nuns and then went to sleep.

25.05.2008.
Today the rain was falling nearly for the whole day, however this was not able to stop us from visiting the cave where St. Bernadette first saw the Virgin Mary, and where the spring starts.
Sadly we weren't able to bath in the spring because we should have wait around two hours in the cold and we didn't want to catch a cold. We squeezed ourselves into the basilica which was full with people, and after we have a look we get out with the lead of Jérome.
To tell the truth Mother was a bit late because of the bags she was carrying. We went on to see the other chapel. I can't even describe with word the beauty of these places. Then we wanted to go the an English mass from 11 however it turned out that a pack of people reserved it for themselves, so in the end we went back to have lunch.
There we had a guest. A priest from the basilica, who told lots of tales about St. Bernadette. We may think that they were friends if we do not know that there are 150 years between them. After the filling lunch we went to see the house of Bernadette. It was a small place called a Chapot (it means dungeon).
I got a statue of St. Philomena from Jérome. Magali and Jérome also surprised me with a "tenth ring". Even without this we were already really grateful for them. We suprised Lilla with a small heart shaped keychain and also get some souvenirs for our family.
26.05.2008.
Early in Tuesday morning we were having breakfast and then hurried to the car. With hard hearts we have a last sight on the beautiful surrounding that we should leave behind soon.
We said goodbye to our guides at the train station and then we started again a 7 hours traveling. It goes without saying but the first class of TGV still much more better than the Hungarian trains, so Go on Hungarians! :)))
We started to stretch ourselves by a quick shopping for french cheese for the father of Lilla, we had an idea. Why not visit the Eiffel tower in our remaining time here?
We didn't have the time to climb it but we made some pictures and bought some small Eiffel towers. :) After some traveling with metro in Paris we finally arrived to the airport.
We have arrived to Hungary around 11 at night. There my Father and Sister and Balázs waited for us. Everyone hung to the neck of one other and then we said goodbye to each other, and went home.
But we still know: We won't ever forget each other!

Bence (8 years old, Szeged)
Bence's days and nights are about LEGO. It was obvious that he asked from Csodalámpa to visit LEGOLAND.
As we heard Bence did not believe that his wish would come true, but as the car arrived on Friday morning he asked with bright eyes
- When shall we start at last?
The journey was exciting. Bence ate well at our first stop at the McDonalds in Bábolna. Getting know that Bence never saw a real airplane we went to the airport of Schwechat (Austria) after crossing the border where we did not see lots of planes but the construction site was very interesting.
The journey took a whole day but Bence didn't care as we offered him lots of snacks and drinks. Moreover he received small presents like books, colour pencils and soft toys not to get bored on the trip. As there was a DVD player in the car we watched Sponge Bob and Vuk.
On Saturday morning Bence was our alarm clock asking the time when we get started from 6 o'clock every 5 minutes. We explained him many times that Legoland opened only at 10 o'clock and we would be there on time.
Well... we were the first who arrived. We did not know what to do first whether we should see the mini cities or the harbour or better to try some other attractions?
We decided to start from the beginning and go on one by one as we were going to stay for the whole day.
The pictures should tell you more about how much Bence enjoyed the trip:
/ 15
Before closing we visited the LEGO shop.
It wasn't easy to decide which LEGO to choose. Bence was really happy and running with his new toys when though we could hardly walk from tiredness. Bence suddenly got sad in the car just before leaving:
- I forgot the most important - Indiana Jones!
The park was already closed and everyone else would have started to convince Bence that it was not a big deal, next time... but not us.
It's a fact that Legoland was already closed. But it wasn't a problem for us. We jumped out from a car, run to see a German lady at the gate and convinced her within 1 minute to open the gates and to help us to make a wish come true. Bence counts on her, on us. We got through the gate and we rushed into the shop and we succeeded! We even got an Indiana Jones key holder!
It was easier to go out. The barriers opened and we could slowly walk out, catching our breath.
You should have seen Bence's face!
At the hotel we thought he would fall sleep immediately. But no... We had some rest while he was assembling his newest LEGO toy. He slept with Indiana Jones and they became really good friends.
Sunday morning it was Bence again who woke us up. We thought to give him a suprise as it was Children's day in Hungary.
In LEGOLAND Bence loved the castle of Neuschwanstein, which was built by 6 men during 6 months from 300.000 LEGO pieces. So we took him to the real castle on the way home.
We took a ride up to the castle in a horsecart. We visited lots of rooms and we listened to the history of the castle of Luis the 2nd (called also Louis the Fool).
This castle looks exactly the same as the one at the beginning of the Walt Disney films with lots of towers.
On the way home Bence was happily playing and talking about his adventure. He only missed the rollercoaster, but we are going to have a ride on it in Hungary someday.
At end he said: "Thank you a lot for bringing me here" and he gave us a hug. We only could thank him for bringing us here.
We would like to say thank to the students of The American International School of Budapest, Pappas Auto Magyarország Kft-nek and the team of Legoland in Grünzburg (Germany) for helping us to make this wish come true.

Minutes passed until he came up to me and checked his present saying 'It can't be true!' He was so happy.
He had been attending a music school and he needed the instrument a lot. His parents eyes were filled with tears of happiness and affection. His little brother was dancing around him, they were ready to leave for home immediately to try it. We hope Tamás will be satisfied with his instrument and will forget the suffering caused by his illness.

Ádám (8 years old, Rajka)
Ádám, aged 8, has just started to learn how to speak due to his different health problems but he can make himself understood by his parents and sisters.
His favourite toy is Thomas, the tank-engine and it's no wonder it was the present he asked for from Csodalámpa.
He had to come for a medical check-up to Budapest on 11 February so we arranged it with his parents to come a day earlier. We had been working on the surprise for a while, we wanted to provide him with the present at Szamos Marcipán Café in the Corinthia Budapest Hotel and we had ordered a Thomas-cake as well.
The wish was fulfilled by Mr Marc Lavoie, a teacher of The American International School of Budapest. He had wanted to give Tamás the presents together with his little son, Benjamin, but unfortunately he became ill and he couldn't come.
/ 8
Ádám was not disturbed by it, he was amazed by the presents and it took half an hour for him to open the boxes and see the engine-friends, paintbooks and other things.
He didn't even care about the cake, he was so pleased with the toys. We didn't mind it, we put it into a box so that they could eat it at home, the whole family.
On behalf of Ádám we would like to say thanks to Mr Marc Lavoie for his help and we are extremely grateful to the owners and the employees of
the Royal Café SzamosMarzipan Confectionery for their kindness and the cake.
